Can you guys post how you attach your boards to your sleds? The custom, cheap, do it your self stuff is what I am after. I have heard gun racks and old binding straps work good, I would like to see some pics of it.

Oh yah, first thread..

we made it to our own place!! hahaha..

yeah i'll post up my setup.. think we'll make a sticky for DIY board and ski racks..

Obviously the cheetah factory racing racks and strap systems are the best on the market, but they aren't cheap... My buddy just bought one strap from them and custom mounted it on a cheapo rack. Didn't break the bank for him.

After spending top dollar on a CFR rack, I'd say that Lushbombs gun rack method is damn skippy for only $20 and some old binding parts. If I had mucho cash, I'd go with the CFR DD rack. Being able to double up boards is key if you are dropping one sled at top and one at bottom as often happens on them days were are only riding two to the crew.

On that note, I recommend moving the pressure from the rack off the side of your tunnel. I'm cracking out my tunnel where my CFR mounts. Now I'm pretty hard on the equipment and my sled has easily rolled a good 300-400ft in it's life with board in rack so I'm not surprised. Not to mention that time she went *** up to a tree.

I'll post up some pics in a thread here soon...

I do believe the double D rack is for something with a wider tunnel like my king cat and the D rack is for more modern tapered tunnels.
You can mount two ski/snowboard racks on either.

I'm getting my tunnel replaced so I might hack up my old tunnel and make some tunnel gaskets like the ones CFR makes for xp sleds just to help stiffen the load on the whoops.

the Ski rack setups CFR makes are still the best thing i have seen yet out there, ski's are a bit tougher to make something for.. and Dual rack is bonefied awesome if you want to drop the coin.

Thread got me motivated to actually check out the extent of my CFR damage on my tunnel. Looks like I need to drill out the ends of this crack to keep it from spreading and remount elsewhere. Good thing about Nytros is the tunnel is sectional so worst case I can just replace this section (again!), ugh.

Think I'll re-mount the horseshoe plum flush with the rails on my tunnel so it has some support in the tray, extend the strap to adjust for the drop, and put a larger flat bracket on the back, making sure to round the edges. The square spacer on the back of my horseshoe bracket has super sharp edges.

I noticed this years racks that CFR Dave has the the Puyallup snow show had a larger square bracket on the horseshoe and edges were rounded. Probably for this very reason.

DD is for big gas cans

Cheetah double d's are for 5gal gas cans and the d is for 2.5 gallon cans, i think. The width is the same, but the front to back dimensions are diff, if I remember right. I love my cheetah DD and rack, bomber!!! plus I couldn't put a P.O.S home brew model on my new sled, so I dropped the coin and would never go back. Lots of my friends home brews have caused tunnel crack. The best home job I have seen was a kid that made a sick, single ski per side rack out of trex deck.

CFR's brochure says the D rack is for sleds with a 136" track or shorter, and the DD rack is for 141" or longer. There is no price difference, which seems a little cheesy. DD rack $219 - Snowboard bracket kit $150 - So at least $400 after shipping? I don't think so.

Here's mine cross-posted from the stickied thread

I'm so stoked we got this forum now!

I have one just like Lushbombs except I used the Voile Ski Straps: http://www.backcountry.com/voile-ski...inches-vol0083 to attach them to the factory rack.

Works excellent and holds 2 ski's just fine. Oh yeah, and the ATV gun rack uses the same bolts as the plastic brake light holder that goes into the tunnel. Not to mention my cooler fits right in the middle, bungee cord from one gun rack to the other :)

All in all I spent $30 total and has worked solid.

You might wanna keep the cooler closer to the seat. I have seen lots of tunnels trashed runnin around with two sets of skis sticckin way out back. All that weight from skis and binders sticking way off the back creates quite a long lever that really tweaks tunnels. Not baggin, just sayin. nice lookin ride and lines in the background.!!!
