SNow Flap??

Hello Everyone..

Wondering, Is it required that all mountain sleds have snowflaps? Do I need to have one? It gets caught up in my track when hitting the rough trails.

What do you think?>

Thanks Paul

run one just to be nice to everyone in your group. I've never had that problem, but see guys who do. my buddy took a short peice of old hy-fax and put it on the tack side. Now that holds the flap from gettin sucked under, plus it will let the flap lift up for getting the snow outta there when playin.

you must ride an arctic cat

. I always have one becuase it helps direct snow onto the heat transferers under the tunnel. and the sled looks better with one on it anyway.

the way to do it is get a 1" piece of flatbar metal, about 4 or 5 inches long an bolt it in the middle snowflap bolt hole, this will prevent any further snow flap suctions.

Take a piece of 1" wide nylon belt and loop it over the rear bumper and let both ends hang down on the center of the flap. Drill a 1/4" hole through both ends of the belt. Pull the flap out to the location you need to clear the track and drill a hole in the track to match the hole in the belt. Install a bolt and your set to go.

with our group of guys we have sort of developed this joke over the years of burrying the guy behind you when taking off from a rest stop. The trimmed snow flap or no snow flap helps with this. I think it looks cool too when the snowflap is trimmed up or removed.

i know it sounds dumb but it's actually hilarious.

no.......I'm not 19.

i guess you could do that if you want everyone to know that you ride an arctic cat.

Over a period of two years I took the flap off or left it on and asked the people I rode with if there is a difference in the amount of snow thrown, (camo track), everybody said the difference wasn't noticable so I took it off and never put it back on, (5 years ago). I think if you have a soft track like the Camo it's OK but some of the harder tracks throw a lot more snow with a flap than I do without.

haha

well i am 18 and i do this as well... :Dhaha but i have never had any heating problems on an 07 159 summit

I was cleanin up the sled yesterday and noticed the rear bumper is loose. I lost a screw/bolt that holds it in...prolly from the track getting caught on flap...vibed it loose.. Well i think im going to trim it.

Thanks for the thoughts..
