SnoBunje Question

I love this thing.. But.. Has anyone ever cut that plastic tube off of it? It sucks to carry with all that plastic.

Thanks for your input

A

I have made my own without a plastic tube and don't have any issues, but I made mine with the truck tarp bungie and it has a fabric cover on it. If I understand right under the cover on the snobungie there is just a bunch of small elastic bands, probably wouldn't travel well without it if that is the case.

It hooks and rides around the bars very well....stays out of the way there, and easily accessible. Been doing that for 5 or 6 years now, and the hubby carries it most all of the time. :)

If your worried about storage space, I just wrapped mine around the bumper. I don't see any reason you couldn't cut the plastic off, it's just a series of bunje cords inside.

Thanks for the replies, I am skinning the snobunje this weekend.. if you know what I mean:face-icon-small-ton

The plastic cover isn't there to protect the bunje cords...it's there to keep it from smackin yo balls when the hook accidentally comes off the ski hook at full yank... Think about what you might be sack-ro-ficing. :face-icon-small-sho

sounded like a good idea till I read your post - you might have just saved some guy's luggage

yeah I think it is there to keep it from smacking the crap out of you if one of the cords break or come loose

elastic cords like that are very sensative to little cuts and knicks in the side of them. it doesnt take much of a ding in the material to cause it to break.. starter cracks grow very easily under high levels of tension.. and yes.. I know mine has come off many times and would have busted me in the nuts if it wasnt for the plastic.. kina bulky.. but not bad at all.. I just hook mine throught itself on the rear bumper then put the hook to the gas rack.. simple and out of the way.

Don't want the cords exposed to the sun during off season if you pull the cover. EW

I have 3 of the 'double hook' variety. I cut the plastic off all three. It's there to limit cord damage but more to kill off the sling-shot experience. We always have our vests and helmets on when we use them so don't really worry about that. Removing the plastic not only make them easy to stow, but I like to be able to inspect the cords and make sure they aren't getting frayed.

Just my 2 pennies worth...

I fold it in half and stick it in the handle of the doo fuel caddy and it never moves.

Not really on the topic of hauling it but anyone ever wrap their "Rattler" through and hook it up sled to sled like you would a "cobra"??
