Sno Free Sled Boards - proto type for Rev - fix the sag

Sno Free Sled Boards Here are some pictures of proto type of new design that is in testing right now for 03-05 Rev.
have seen lots of these with sag issues on the running board, so thought I would try and build an insert that would truly offer improvement to the problem. Current products on the market are fairly light gauge aluminum that offers minimal improvement over stock.

These proto-types are completely CNC machined out of 3/16 inch diamond tread aluminum, with cleats mig welded. The part is then sandblasted and powder coated. The insert integrates with the forward stock brace. As you can see from the pictures, snow evacuation will be excellent.

If I produce this part there will be some minor changes including the outer cleat will be out of 1/4 inch material.

Initial test ride is very promising, I have asked the tester to thrash the heck out of them over the next couple of weeks. The test sled had cracked in the left footwell at the square openings, so these inserts go all the way into the footwell to add strength to that weak area and really tie into the bulkhead area.

Please let me know if you might be interested, by the end of the month I hope to be ready to produce them. Any comments are welcome.
Right now I am anticipating the price will be about $250.00 powder coated.

that strong outer edge is definately what the rev/xp both need, they are just to soft, im 150 withou gear and they are bending on my rev. so yeah, the bigger guys anhialate them, they look really sick to!!!

hook it up

waiting to see more info and price these should sell like hot cakes buddy nice looking product!!:D

I may be down for a set I am 180 wo gear and my stock boards are toast. One question: Howcome you didnt angle the teeth foreward? just curious.
Will you have a option of no powdercoat?

Looks like a stout set....our running boards have held up great for the last two years and yours look like they might be even stronger. One suggestion is that you try to open up a larger hole in the footwell.....a lot of snow gets packed in there with no place to go. Also, why not carry them all the way back over the rear drop brackets for extra strength?

Had heard complaints about boots trapped in footwell before, so all Sno Free have the cleats angled back - . With the stronger material and aggressive cleat, still have awesome traction when climbing steep. With the welding, it is actually more work to offer them natural finish then to powder coat them due to trying to clean and polish the welds that are inside tight corners, so I think powder coated will be the way to go, but not limited to black.

Good point, trying to balance the opening size in the footwell with maintaining good strength, and weight of insert. May open the forward holes up a bit. As far as carrying back, again trying to balance the weight vs. benefit. This set comes right to the rear brackets, I try to avoid doing any cutting in the rear bracket area, but I will definitely explore extending back a bit more. The real weak area that sags seems to be about halfway between the rear bracket and the footwell, and that's what we targeted here.

Thanks for the comments everyone.:)

PM me when you have a set ready to go & price or if you need a test pilot, I should log another 800 pow mi or so this season & wgt 280lbs w/gear. Good test for them. Prefer blue pow coat but black will work.

A good set for the XP would be great....I'd like a set that goes further back also...alot of snow sits back there for nothing.....be easy to do.

Initially I was going to say to much $ but after looking at the pictures, they are well worth it. I'm 200 with prob 50lbs of gear and mine have the normal bend.

I agree with the none powder coated look, but understand the polishing side. Sent you a PM let me know when they are ready.

Good feedback, I need to look a little closer at the XP, but I recall the dimensions were a bit different than the REV. But - once I finish the testing on the REV, I will also plan on a version for the XP. As far as colors, will offer any standard color (yellow, blue, red etc...) Will certainly pm anyone who is interested when they are ready for sale.

WOW.... way to take a design to the next level! it looks like it addresses pretty much everything i don't like or had problems with, with my snow eliminators. funny how you can change a few things and have a completely better product! i dig the extra grip, the holes look even bigger, and the extra material near the running board edge looks very promising! oh, and they go up the side of the tunnel farther too.... i like :)

Testing is going well

Testing is going well so far, will likely add a couple of inches to the length, and open the holes in the footwell larger. So far very strong, no sag, and as you can see, excellent snow evacuation.

More to come soon !

They work great!

Matt built this first set for my 05 rev. My running boards were sagging pretty bad, we straightened them up and put his boards on. I went out and tried to thrash on them yesterday on some pretty hard snow with about 4in of powder on top. They grip great, and I didn't really get any snow built up on them. Should have taken more pics, but those two were it. I really like them and I will definitely do more testing, I think I will break something else on my sled before I break the boards.:D

Chevitz rode all last weekend in McCall, we are pleased with the performance of the first prototype. Ordered a couple of sets to be cut, with some modifications from the first design: 3" longer, cleats will be vertical, outside edge will be1/4" material, front opening made larger (where factory two square holes are in footwell). Will have pics later this week, and ready for sale. As soon as available, will post and pm all who have shown earlier interest.
