Smart Phones: Droid or Iphone?

Droid or Iphone

Yep, been reading about that more and more. I've decided that it's no between the Droids or the Tough Guy smart phone.

I really doubt that Verizon will let me have the latest and greatest phone with an upgrade. I'll be forcefully polite and ask though.

I have a Droid 2 and really am not impressed. It restarts all on its own a few times a week, no matter if you are in a phone call or not. You can't surf the net while on the phone, it is slow moving from one app to the next, it locks up. Sometimes I get a call and can't answer it because it is stuck on a different screen. Have to purchase the music over from someone else besides Itunes unless you can find a app that works with Itunes. Have to charge through out the day or the battery dies.

Hubby has a Iphone and he has not had near the problems with his. Also easier to use from what I can see. You can use as a Ipod from your Itunes. Surf while on the phone.

Both have the issue of cheek hitting the keys while talking on the phone, both have many apps, some you purchase some are free.

The using the Internet while talking is an AT&T thing. You won't be able to do that with Verizon. Just how the network is setup. (has nothing to do with the phone).

About flash. It's outdated and not needed. It is dangerous in that software can be hidden in it to attack the computer. That is why apple doesn't use it.

iPhone 5 is dual core and 4g.

I'm not so sure that it means cell phones are causing more brain tumors.

Before its announcement Tuesday, WHO had assured consumers that no adverse health effects had been established.
A team of 31 scientists from 14 countries, including the United States, made the decision after reviewing peer-reviewed studies on cell phone safety. The team found enough evidence to categorize personal exposure as "possibly carcinogenic to humans."
What that means is they found some evidence of increase in glioma and acoustic neuroma brain cancer for mobile phone users, but have not been able to draw conclusions for other types of cancers

Another thing to think about...

iPhone has become the smart phone leader in volume (not company sales, but specific phones), so more and more device connections are the proprietary Apple connection. Several vehicles are iPhone enabled and just about every hotel I go into is ready for an iPhone. I'm not sure what the Droid connection looks like, but it doesn't seem to be as welcomed as the iPhone.

I just recently dumped my Sprint Evo after the latest Gingerbread update, the phone would freeze and do a whole bunch of strange crap. Plus the battery life on that phone is terrible!!

So I switched phones and carriers. I went to Verizon and I decided to get the iphone 4. Both the Droid platform and the apple platform have their +'s and -'s as stated already in this thread. But IMO, I prefer the iphone vs my old Evo.

With that said, anyone want to buy a clean Evo?

My wife has a Driod X and it is the biggest POS I have ever seen. The hotspot is spotty at best and the operating system seems to have bugs. Capital JUNK!! that is how you spell Driod. We both HATE this phone.

I just got an iphone 4 a few weeks ago not having a smart phone before.

+ super easy to navigate
+ apps are endless
+ easy to use apps
+ connectivity is great(to pc's, networks, laptops, vehicles, etc)
+ as customized as I want(keeping choices simple and effective)

- battery life if playing games for 30-60 minutes at a time(will have to recharge throughout the day, but that's not a concern of mine(vehicle, office, home))
- how easy it is to spend money because Apple has made accessibility so freakin' easy!

I almost went with the Nexus S but found a better deal for the iphone with my current carrier which has been outstanding versus my last.

Edit - I've been listening to my iphone at max volume, since I got off work 5 hours ago and the battery is at 80%. Was fully charged when I left work.

You just asked a Chevy Ford question but...

iPhone is the measuring stick, why not get the phone that everyone compares themselves to?

I have never heard of anyone say they don't like their iPhone, I have heard that a lot with the Droid. I have also heard a lot of people, very happy with their Droid. You will probably be happy with either.

I know you said you have Verizon but the 3G iPhone through AT&T is $50 right now. Know way you can beat that phone for $50 anywhere else.

If your bored and want a good laugh read this. There are some great ones from this country but the people that hate the Iphone the most seem to live in Europe or Australia.

Except they don't smell bad, turn your teeth yellow, your lungs black or cause cancer.

depends on who you ask, every other month there is some study saying that cell phones emit radiation and give you brain cancer.

On a long enough time line there isnt much out there that doesnt supposedly cause cancer. I read a study a few days ago that said coffee is a carcinogen.

Have the DROID x. Its been awesome. But ever since the new update from Verizon its completely sucked. It turns off all the time now even after Verizon rebooted it.

I'm going to assume that the site you linked is a little biased. I am sure you can find something similar like http://www/Ihatemydroid.com (no idea if that works, just made it up.)

Some of the things people say on that site are just dumb. Like:
**** this phone to hell, lost my music on my pc, and been looking for any ****ing software that enables me to transfer my music (and photos) to the pc, and its ****ing impossible, the ones that seem to work cost around 30 U.S. dollars, and who knows if theyll do the job.

Well how about iTunes? This person clearly doesn't know how to use the phone. It is super easy to transfer music and photos to the computer with iTunes (free).

Either way, no problems with my phone at this point. Few complaints but they are minor. Can't have a "ring" tone for individuals when they send me texts, my reminder intervals are limited, and I don't like how when I get a text it is priority, even when on a call.
