SLP to Fire-n-Ice airbox

The last ride I took, I went to lift the front of the sled to line it up for my superclamps and the damn plastic bumper almost tore off the front of the sled. The cheap azz plastic female screw receptors on the body broke completely off. So, the way I see it.........I have to completely take the front end apart so I can replace the shock tower front end plastics, just so I has something ridgid (LOL) to screw the bumper too OR Remove the crap slp airbox, put in a fire-n-ice and a after market bumper. I'm just reading the thread about the skinz skid plate too. Look like I'm fubared for that too with the slp box.

My question: after a slp airbox has been installed, how hard will it be to put on a fire-n-ice airbox? It looks to me that the removal and install of airbox should be accompanied by the new bumper install. being as everything will be open and apart in the front end.

Input, Ideas, Suggestions --- Thanks in advance

i would get the FNI intake, use the stock intake (gutted out) or the Timbersled intake (or one you make similar to the timbersled)...you will be much happier..

then get an aftermarket bumper..skinz or ballistic bumper (search on here for the ballistic) you wont go wrong..much nicer having a real bumper that you can lift on, plus you can blast trees w/o worry (trust me ;))

just know that when you go from the SLP intake to ANY other intake above..you WILL have to get a stock boost box to connect the intake to the throttle bodies..

good luck..

Hurts the wallet a bit but you’ll love it, Sometimes I find myself wandering out to the garage just to lift up the Nine by the bumper because now I can! And an easy install, I went F&I intake, Skinz bumper and new boost box.

The treedog bumper is a much better bumper than the Skinz. I own both.

Contact treedog on the forum.

I will have a slightly modified stock boost box for sale later this week.

I'm going back to the SLP intake because I can't get any other intake to clear.

I'll also have a Treedog bumper for sale as well.

I don't know if you would have the same clearance issues I have with my SLP pipe on a 700 .... but be forwarned, heh =)

do you still have either of these parts for sale any more?
I have an RMK 700 with that piece of crap front end that I need to correct.

What do you mean about the "clearance issues on a 700"? Mine also has an SLP pipe.

Thanks for the info.

I have run the FNI airbox on both a stock 2005 900, an SLP piped 2006 900 and a custom with the 09 front and 2006 SLP pipe... No clearance issues.... UNTIL.... a good friend crashed his 900 with the SLP 2006 pipe (just a minor tree bump that took out the plastic) .... the pipe was bent slightly.... also heard about this from someone who bought a used pipe that was bent slightly.

THANK YOU!! I just got off the phone with Paul (nice guy) and he has what I need at a killer price. I've been sitting on this problem for a long time and glad to finally be getting it resolved. Now I need to decide what to do about the rest of that front-end issue... Thanks again.
