slp pipe

You should be fine with slp pipe and can... but if you don't have pcv I would consider that before pipes, also subscribe to dynotech for maps and tech help. Better power upgrade for less $$$
dynotechresearch.com Jim is great help and his cell # is on webpage

nothing needed except some black silicone for the y-pipe. y-pipe is not fun to change, I'm running a single on mine and love it.

Yes u will need ur sled flashed if u want it to run properly after installing the pipe. Carl's Cycle, or slp will be able to get u fixed up real good, including clutching.

do i have to re flash it like i did my 900 and what is the pcv for?

thanks

Fuel programmer.

Your sled is more than likely LEAN on the bottom and mid-range and FAT on top.

With the PC-5 you can add or subtract fuel and correct this.

The key is to have the proper "mapping" that is usually created by someone running a combo similar to yours on a dyno and tuning it to optimum Air /Fuel ratios.

Since there are multiple re-flashes for the 800, it's important to know which one you currently have.

DynoTech Jim has several different maps available for the 800's with STOCK pipe, SLP pipe, different re-flash dates, etc.

Carl's

Or u could just call Carl's Cycle in Boise and tell them what is done to ur sled, and what elevation u ride at, and they will flash it for u and u won't need to spend $400+ on a pcv. I have an 09 D8 with a few mods and I live and ride in WA. They flashed mine and it runs soooooo good :face-icon-small-hap

i thought they were limited on the changes they could make to the fuel/timming ?
am i missing something
(wow i opened the door there:face-icon-small-dis)

Assuming the above question is for me. Carl's has there own maps. I am sure they could do a stock map if u wanted, but they have there own and imo they work 10x's better. I'm not sure how all of that works with warrenty, but mine was ported and piped right out of the gate, so mine was never covered anyway.

how much for Carl's reflash?

How much does Carl's charge for a reflash? I would be interested in that , getting ready to get a PC V and have a baby coming in Jan, so could use the PCv money elseware.

thanks chadman
i allready ordered a PC-V so:face-icon-small-dis
from the research i've done i will be happy with it but if you can get a map through carls for $30-$50 that works good that would be a great cheaper option

Call Carls to double check but Im fairly certain they only flash when you do the 860, their porting or twins. Its not a stock option.

I put my pipe on and didn't do any adjustments, except carls clutching. It runs really well, now after reading all about the PCV I'm thinking real hard about investing into one.

004
yeah i guess if you watch you throttle position they can live
but if you get lazy/unlucky you'll burn it down
i figgured safe than sorry plus everybody seems to agree that they run stronger on top (more hp) with the pc-V added bonus
so between being down for part of the season and $350 decided it for me

This is correct. The only way to get the reflash from Carls is to purchase a porting performance package or an 860 kit. They will not just flash your ECM for a stock sled.

But, it is definately a worthwile investment when you consider how well the 800 ported runs and the cost involved with the PCV.

Back to the original question. Yes, the SLP pipe works on the 800 but runs way better when used with a PCV

Air box/vents???

No!!! Don't gut air box, leave it alone or get SLP air horn (unnecessary) IMO. As far as vent kits go, I like SLP again... Nice clean look!
