SLP Pipe Update for Axys 800 Models

Is SLP addressing the resistors breaking that they supply for low elevation riders?

You could also run non-ethanol fuel and use the ethanol setting, that will add like 4% more fuel and essentially do the same thing...

Plug it in. Runs chitty.
Unplug.... Breaks....
End of story.

Bullet terminals crimped onto resistors and covered with a section a heat shrink. I seen it and was really surprised they would send that out with a 700.00 pipe. Everything else in the kit is top notch quality. Eric

Just FYI, my SLP pipe cracked after moving the clamp to the front. Thank goodness for a great dealer which I bought the pipe from. They took the cracked one and gave me a brand new one out of the box, no questions asked. I did add another clamp and header wrap to the front along with the original clamp on the new one before it was ever ran. I hope this one last more than 400 miles.

Exactly where mine cracked. Lots around here are cracking. At least you got a new pipe. I spent to have mine welded! Not even sure I even want to I run it. But they have no new pipes to send me, nice!

I love slp but maybe should have went bikeman. Their pipe is 3 pounds heavier. My experience is slp is a stand up outfit and they will make it right. Still waiting on mine. Backordered until end of January.

Slp has been having these problems for years now. Reminds me of the days of the 900 cc. I wish they get their sh!! together and build better quality pipes. I flat refuse to use anything Slp on my sleds.

So for is update you move the strap from behind the sensor to in front of it, and put another second strap where the original one was? I would guess that this is not a free update? I just purchases a brand new sled with this set up on it and I am curious about it. I see people have built there own second strap. I really do no not want my pipe to crack out because I love the way this thing rips!!

I have a bikeman on mine 500 miles and zero issues so far and am sure I won't have any issues redicoulous that the slp are cracking and no replacement till end of January

I have 2 SLP Pipes. One is the "2015" version that I bought last year. It will only fit the Switchback or Rush and has the Stage 2 which is the Clutch Kit.

This year I bought the 2016 for my SKS. Just the Pipe and Can "No stage 2 clutch kit"

SLP sent me the updated hose clamps for free and I received both of them yesterday. SLP has great customer service.

As soon as my SSI stock modded pipes come in these SLP Pipe sets ups will be for Sale. I wasn't happy with what I read about the SLP #'s in the Dec 22nd Pipe Shoot out. I love the SLP fit & finish. I love losing all the weight but I didn't appreciate being lied to about the HP numbers.

I like that SLP is an Idaho company. However, I have never been enamored with their build quality. Coupled with the superior performance of the BDX SSI stock pipe mod and the fact that it looks stock if you reinstall the heat shield led me to go that route. I should have a modified stock pipe on my sled by next weekend.

I would love to hear from any mountain riders who are using the BDX SSI modified pipe. I am not sure what weights to run at our usual altitude (5,000 to 9,000). I know that most of the guys with the SLP pipe are running 66 gram weights. However, I have heard that you may need to go heavier with the BDX SSI mod pipe.

Just got back from riding in Jackson WY with the SSI pipe mod and diamond S quiet can. I had issues with DET the first two days. Talked with Eric and he said I needed a resistor. Luckily my riding buddy had his SLP resistor and that fixed the issue. Sled ran great after that was a beast in the hills and definitely pulled harder than everyone in my group including a SLP set up.

When I put a pipe on my sled ('16 sks) it's probably going to be one from BMP, it may be a little heavier but is defiantly built to higher standards and makes great top end power (tried a friends '16 rmk with BMP pipe/can). A pipe is somewhere that you shouldn't try to save a pound or two with thinner steel what with all the heat cycles and extreme pressures. Have a couple riding buddies who had SLP pipes that have cracked in different places. ✊

I put the black SLP pipe and can on mine and absolutely LOVE how it woke up my sled but doesn't kill my ears and the ears of my friends when we are riding. However, when it's pinned it sounds great! Mine came with the two clamps and it's just fine. They are very aware they had a problem and really want to fix it and keep their customers happy - give them a chance. No company is perfect all the time, but those who try to make it right rise right to the top of my list to call again!
