SLP Pipe /Can clutching advise

The power shift clutch kit that comes with the SLP stage 2 is a Blue/Red Primary "140 / 320" and includes 68G MTX weights. Most have been leaving the clutching stock or adding 2grams more then what the factory chart recommends.

For 3-6k elevation SLP's current recommendation is the stock secondary with their blue/red primary spring and 68 grm MTX weights with 3 grams in the inner hole and 1 gram in the outer hole. If I was riding 4-7k elevation I would try 2 grams in the inner and 1 gram in the outer.

Yep, kinda strange but a few of us above 10K are doing the same in terms of keeping the clutching stock (60's for us). I don't have mine on yet but my buddies sled rips and sounds great. Nice crisp response and mellow throaty sound. I think this is the winner so far this year.

Also unless MTX weights have changed you have to have the primary shimmed. That was the biggest downfall of their weights, you could not switch back and forth between 10 series polaris and MTX. Their weights were the only ones I have come across that were like this. This was a huge negative for me. Why would they do this?:face-icon-small-dis I know when I ran them I put them in the mill and fly cut them to lay down correctly without shimming the primary, just wish they would make them correctly to start with. I know that I will never own another set.

Clutching setup

We have been running a different helix and 2 gram heavier weights with our TEAM roller bearing in the secondary. Runs really strong, and works well with the pipe setup. We are still fine tuning our clutching and getting it completely dialed in, but it has worked well so far. Give me a call or shoot me a PM if you have any more questions!

nosoup4u have you ever checked the belt to sheave clearance after installing them? Maybe they have changed? They will definitely go in but the belt to sheave clearance would be way to tight in the past. If they got smart they probably fixed this issue.

Checked the belt clearance and it is within spec. Never had a problem on a polaris, but never could use them on a cat without reshimming or griding the heel down.

SLP recommends clearance between .010 and .020. Most Polaris clutches come from the factory with much more than that, I've seen as much as .070. The MTX weights do tighten up the clearance, but it my experience you still have at least the .010 minimum with MTX weights on most Polaris's. I'm sure there are exceptions where this isn't the case.

I have installed MTX weights for years and yes they do tighten up the belt to sheave clearance, but almost always polaris has them way loose. So after installing them it allows me not to have to shim. I am running a team 150/340 lime green spring with 74G MTX weight with 1g in the heel. I haven't ran it yet with SLP Pipe, but I will report back after this next trip. I ride 0-3000ft

At 2500-5500' my buddy has mtx 71g empty with 3g in the base hole, 1g tip hole. Total 75g. Stock 163x2.6 . Runs 8150-8300

wow I left the stock clutching alone. 8400 settles into 8350. This thing rocks.

What areas you riding? i have same setup with the changes sip recommended and am yet too ride mine because of a small mechanical. I did ride a stock sled that i dropped in the adjustable weights and it needed them. There is some fine tuning with clutching from stock that needs too be done too pull correct RPM. I met a guy running sip setup with stock clutching and he said it worked great getting 8300 all day in deep snow. This is riding revy 5-7000ft. Im now wondering if I should put it back too stock before even going out on the snow.

It has been my understanding that the best torque and HP is at or around 8150 rpm. Sounds like you are a bit high . .?
