SLP pipe and head vs stock--cooke

All I know is Big John has some great set-ups. My SHR860 flat out rips! I finally got it set-up with all of his settings and fella's let me tell ya, if you got the $$ let him set you up with an 860. I'm curious about the weight of the SLP pipe. I might ditch the stocker for the SLP if it loses(weight not power!!!) 5 lbs. or so. I currently went to a Skinz Super Q and it works great! It's a touch quieter and pulls the RPM's a bit quicker in back to back test vs. the HPS. I have Big Johns clutching and a Shockwave-8200 rpm all day!

stock set up was 10# heavier including the can and y pipe

Hey trinitypowder, your sled makes me drool!!!! I wanted to bore out my rev last year but my skidoo mechanic talked me into doing the slp perf. pkg. porting, pistons, head, reeds, pipe/can,jetting,intake. He said it would run with the 840's. All i can say is WOW! It rips! But when I get my XP, Im doing exactly what you've done. Dang i've never been so jealous of another guys sled, thanks for sharing! Rev

No track issues at all. The 3.0 pitch works just fine on the 2.86 drivers. The 15x156x2.5 is better than I could have hoped! My sled works and hanldes just that way I've always wanted it to! Love it:D

The only pipe that beat stock in my testing was the dyno-port...the slp 800HO lost 5+ on my 840HO...call before you buy anything...BJ

BTW- the skinz can is OK...LOL

I'd like to add that we started with the SLP pipe and can and tried the HPS can on the SLP pipe.We found the same results we always find with SLP vs HPS cans................ SLP can is quiet with a little less throttle response and more top end on the flat/roads............HPS sounds awesome, losses a wisker of top end and has much quicker throttle response.I'm sticking with the HPS can on the SLP Pipe,Y Pipe,Head combo.I'm very, very happy with this sled and setup. As soon as we get a couple of Shockwaves to do the super fine tuning they'll be even better! Never had any sled with throttle response like this combo has, what a blast to ride!.........Like to add, there is nothing wrong with the stock XPs,we have a friend that tunes better than any Doo guy anywhere bar none and I'm sure his stock sled will hang but most won't. The SLP Head pipe combo works and with the weight loss is worth the money to me.My kids 08x that was Dads and my wifes 08 Everest both run really good but the SLP goodies add to the fun factor!

I have the 163 with ALL the SLP goodies. For one, I am also getting that irritating "loose spring" noise. What is siliconing your springs all about? Also When I had the SLP kit installed the dealer went with 500 mains and did not change my needles. It seems like the motor runs a little rough in the mid range. Any thoughts on this? Should I have the needles adjusted? I know that SLP calls for 500 main unless using ethanol fuel then 540's. We can only get ethanol gas where I live so I have been mixing in some race fuel with every tank. Does anyone know what will happen if I just run premium with 10% ethanol while having the 500's in my carbs? I have 400 miles on now and my cluthching is bone stock. Just got back from riding 8 days in unbelievable deep powder. The kind where if you stop anywhere besides in a previous track you are never getting started again. And in this snow I was consistently getting 35-37mph track speed when in a full on pull. Seemed to work great but what can I do to get my track speed up even more? This is an awsome Sled, works so good in the deep powder just the way it is. I can't wait to find its full potential. Any thoughts would be helpful!

mine is also making noise did the silicone thing, took apart pipe and the springs are hitting the steering bar and are hitting the pipe will be calling slp, and has also broken 3 springs, i live in wisconsin and rode for 600 mile trip this past weekend no jetting change and minus 2 degrees. No deto

Make sure that noise isn't your clutch guard where it mounts near the airbox tube. Mine was rattling there because I lost my gromet about 3 minutes after I got my sled!! Sorry for the Hijack WyomingT/A:face-icon-small-win

We've run against Stock XP vs SLP XP.... Good clutching goes a long way we've proven that $$$ for $$$. SLP plus good clutching and the SLP has a small sled length advantage.

OT

My sled had no rattles at all until I put the slp exhaust on. I checked over all the springs and the only ones that may be rattling against the pipe is the two that attach to the hps canister. I put silicone on all the springs and it dampened it a little. I am going to rebend the tabs at the canister connection so that it does not rattle their. It does look like the springs hit the steering post also though.
