First ride with the new SLP pipe set observations:

1. the top of the pipe is rubbing on the bottom of the intake plenum. Yes, it's installed correctly. Anyone else have this problem?

2. The plate underneath the Y pipe needs to be bent way down outta the way of the springs, they can rattle on it under load. not a good sound.

3. that motha gets hot!!! it bit my gloves:(

4. Awesome power, very happy with the powerband.

Any feedback/suggestions appreciated. Thinking about cutting the rubber block under the back of the pipe???

Yeah, mine had a slight rub on the plenum, so I trimmed the rubber pad it sits on above the secondary and now it touches the spark plug cap. The SLP pipe is a tight fit thats for sure!

I put high temp silicone right under the springs to help with the rubbing and rattling. I also cut the rubber block that the pipe sets on to lower the pipe but make if you do that not to cut too much at once because then it will hit your plug wire

We have a hood lift that is designed justfor that issue and to get the hot air out.. call meif you are interested

Hood lift

RK Tek's Hood lift is a MUST HAVE with the SLP pipe. It gives pleanty of clearance Clarence, and also lets out TONS of heat.

Had the same issue, I took a heat gun and slowly heated the intake until it was soft. I then pushed/shaped and held for a few seconds until it became hard again. Becareful, don't use your hand, plastic is very hot!

F&%$ what do i do now. Earlier this summer i saw that my slp pipe was rubbing on my plenum so i shaved down my rubber bumper. Well i never thought of it touching the spark plug wire, and it does, it has already started to wear on it from the couple of times ive started my sled and moved it around. And the best part is.......................................................cat doesnt sell the f%^&$#@! rubber bumper separately from the bulkhead! Could i glue a piece of rubber onto the shaved off rubber and get an RKT hood lift?

ya my first real trip out it melted a 5"x10" hole in my diamond s hood
and i had even cut out as much rubber out of the pipe snubber as possible.
the mag side of the hood is even melting where the stinger and can meet, and
the distance from it to the hood mesh is a good 2-3".this baby gets hot:mad:

had to fabricate 18gauge sheet aluminum to the inside as well as the outside of the hood.should be good to go now...mm

Can you drill out the rivets and move the bumper an inch forward and re-rivet to gain some height?

Got any pictures? I just put a diamond S on my sled with the intake plenum, looks like I better get the heat tape out!

I could probably move it a little forward, but there is an extension from the slp pipe that comes down, just 3 pieces of flat metal to make it square with the rubber so i can't move it too much. I talked to a guy at country cat and he is going to try to get a part number from cat and get me the part, but if it snows before then i will just farmer rig it by adding a piece of rubber on top of the other one and i have an rkt hood lift on the way.

yeah

Mine touches a little, but fixing that with bdx intake. I put some 1500 degree heat tape where it touches, and it barely leaves a mark with that stuff on there.

just tried to post some info and pic's. but the site is telling me the resolution of the pics i just took are too high???i didn't change anything on the camera , i wonder if its because of the site change???so if someone would remind me how to re size the photos so they fit w/ the site, i will attach them....mm

There is probably an easier way, but I open them in Paint then go to Image--Stretch and Skew, then I size the horizontal and vertical down to 30% and resave it.

Tried to use the search function to get you some info on the hood lift, but every link that i clicked on came up with a page of symbols and codes so apparently the new servers have something to do with that.

They do sell it. Most dealers just don't know it, and there is no PN# shown for it on the parts diagram.

Call Dan at The Outdoor Shop. He sells them and knows the PN# for the mount by itself. I bought one before.

If someone does find the part number, please post if here.

Is there a way to check for hood clearance without running it? I made some adjustments and want to make sure it fits before I melt my hood.

:beer;

In a semi dark garage, I was able to shine a flash light thru the hood vent and check the pipe clearance.
