Any tuner with ability to apply information feedback from a report and has the ability/funds/effort will vastly benefit from a quality fuel controller. If you argue the opposite you have your head buried in the sand! The fact of the matter is that the efi absolutely leaves performance on the table in all of these wild variations of environments that we participate in. The real argument should be do you, I, or we have the ability to see the needs and make the required adjustments for improvement...then how often do we have to perform these adjustments during our daily grind. Now that there are a couple years of experience with this EFI system it is obvious that they don't perform universally and that in some cases vast improvements can be easily had.

You have to have a data logger or a lot of time on your hands...you have to have a control box...you have to have power transmission parts...and you have to have KNOWLEDGE to apply to run at peak performance day in and day out. Most don't have this and that is why you simply go with a quality known setup for your world. IE Carl's or SLP or Tri City or who ever

Slp head report

I ran my slp head on 09 800 with slp pipe,no 2010 update, I run a PC-3 also. noticed more rpm on top, otherwise about the same but hopefully less detonation prone. Will report more as time goes along.

I am a little bit curious about the power commander III for the poo sleds. I ordered all the performance edition parts for my 2010 Assault, and they told be all I needed to do is send in the stock CPU for re-flashing and I didn't need the pcIII. Have you guys been told different, or just ordered the pcIII because you thought it would be an improvement?

Performance Edition package from SLP

That is correct ,they reflash your ECU and you do not need to buy the pc3 or pc5,but now keep in mind that the pc3 or pc5 just allows you to fine tune your sled by being able to add or subtract fuel as needed with the information gathered from EGTS or o-2 sensor. People with carbed sleds run EGTS to do there jetting. Granted a mikuni jet wrench costs 5 dollars compared to a pc3 for 350.00,but with a pc-3 you can adjust your fuel very precisely compared to jetting carbs. REMEMBER a pc3 or pc5 is nothing more than an electronic jet wrench and if you can post on snowest you can tune with a pc3 . It is truly that easy.

Thanks for the clarification Dragonfire. I have an assault I am building for my wife (ha ha) with the SLP performance edition package without the pc3, but I may consider adding it. Will see how it runs. I ride a turbo dragon with the boondockers control box and I can change my fuel numbers for low, mid and high ranges. It sounds like the pc3 does about the same thing?
