SLP Engine Base Plate??

I have a 04 RMK and was wondering if it would be worth investing in the SLP engine base plate. I understand what it is designed for, just wondering if it actually helps with the crank flex on the 800. Wish I had more $$$ to invest in a newer sled but for now just trying to prolong the life on my current sled. Any thoughts, ideas, opinions are much appreciated. thanks.

Yes it helps, especially if you have any mods that increase performance. I run one on my 700. Also if you haven't already send your primary out and get it balanced.

I used a solid motor plate from Brad at power addiction.

His nick is 1200PSI here on the forum.
Great guy to deal with and flawless products. Everything was a perfect fit, minor shimming required on the rear motor mounts to get proper center 2 center.
If you use the SLP plate the motor will be raised in the chassie. After the install of the plate combined with torque arm and push arm my clutches are running cooler.

Yes they are good but don't count on them as an answer to you not breaking your crank. I've had 3 edge sleds 800, 700, and UBR900 (based on 800 bottom end); one with brads plate and 2 with SLP plates. All 3 with torque arms, clutches balanced and wide bearings installed. All three still broke the cranks around 2500-3500 miles. Does all this help? You tell me.

My latest philosophy is to treat the crank like it is a wear item and rebuid it every 2500-3000 miles, hopefully before it brakes.

In all honesty I wouldn't bother with the plate unless you are high horsepower. It's a lot of work to install. Just go with a SLP torque arm and balance the clutch. Put the rest of the money into rebuilding your crank. Just my 2 cents

Being that the motor is raised in the chassis using the SLP plate, does it shorten or lengthen the distance between the primary and secondary or is it still at stock specs??

That plate will raise the motor but boy its not much as it is resessed But you should always check that c to c any time you work in that area
