SLP Cans...One for stock pipe, one for SLP pipe???

Can you guys refresh my memory? It seemed to me that back in the 05 and 06 years, SLP made 2 different cans for the 900. One for use with a stock pipe, one for use with the SLP pipe. Both are different.

Is it still the same today?

My buddy has purchased 2 on E-Prey now and both appear to be designed for use with a stock pipe he believes. (I haven't seen them, we live far apart) He believes that dimensionally these 2 will not work with his SLP pipe, that they must be for use with a stock pipe.

Has anybody ever come up with a consensus on this? We are under the impression that SLP only has one can now. Does this one can work on both? It's been so long since we dealt with this issue that I have forgotten.

What's the scoop?

I wondered this too.... but you hear of many people running different cans designed for stock pipe on the SLP pipe so it's gotta be the same externally anyways.

I'm not sure on this either, I do know they made an '05 specific can in 05 which was eliminated in 06 when they went to the bigger one... but I don't know how it actually differs from the typical SLP 900 can we all know now.

I just talked to SLP last week about this and on the 05 they said they use a different can for the SLP pipe and the Std pipe SLP Silencer will not work right with the SLP pipe. I was looking at a pipe on ebay, but it didn't come with the silencer and I have a stock pipe slp silencer. Not sure on the 06 tho.
So i'm still looking for a SLP pipe set for an 05.

A couple of years ago I purchased a SLP can that was meant for the Polaris stock pipe. However, I was running a CPI pipe and my sled would start to bogg. No bueno... So I sold the can and the same thing happened to the next guy and he was running a SLP pipe. I called SLP and they told me I should be running the other SLP can that they use on their performance SLP pipe.

Can

I to have wondered about this ? Since I just got a smokin deal from my dealer on the 06 pipe and can for $300 with the reflash,I have the slp can for the stock pipe now. It's alot smaller than the 1 that came in the set, gonna try it 1st and see if it does'nt work I'll swap out.the 1 in the set is heavier:face-icon-small-sho

Just dealt with this last week. There are different SLP numbers for the cans for stock pipes and for SLP pipes.

I called SLP and they stated the cans have different flow rates, so I couldn't use my SLP #09-289 can (for stock pipe) with the SLP pipe I just bought. I needed a SLP #090-8782 can to work with the #090-8781 SLP pipe.

This is what I was figuring. The sled in question is an 05.

That just reminded me that the first Can I got from them was different than the second two. It was wider across and smaller than the replacements. I also had a much nicer sound to it, just a little bit deeper. You can see the difference in my pictures if you look close at them.
