Hey everyone,
got a question for ya. Just put the slp can on my 09 D8. It is smaller than the stock can at the belly pan exit hole. How do ya seal it so exhaust doesn't come back into the engine compartment.
thanks for any suggestions.

Ultra Black high temp silicone. You can buy it at any auto parts store. Use it where the can connects to the pipe too.

  1. Get a piece of fender or belly pan plastic from your dealer or laying around the garage.
  2. Make a rectangle piece with rounded corners about 1 1/2" longer front to back and about 1' wider than your hole is now.
  3. Lay it over your existing hole and draw a stencil from the bottom.
  4. Cut out your hole, then line up where the whole piece should be, then drill 2 - 3/16" holes on each side and 1 - 3/16" hole in each end
  5. Rivet it in place from the bottom up using wide head fender and belly pan rivets.
  6. Put the Ultra High Black Silicone around the edge of the hole if you don't have a gasket donut and put the end of the pipe into it.
EDIT: You can put the plastic piece on the outside/bottom of the fender too if you don't have enough clearance to get the pipe in with it mounted on the inside.
I had to do the same thing when I put my 2010 Plastics on my 06 700, the exhaust holes didn't line up with my HPS Can

Thanks for the pics, seems like this the route to go. Does it need to be a special plastic like belly pan material to deal with the heat from the can?
Does anybody make an after market rubber gasket/ o ring that seals it up?
I Appreciate the help.

How big is the gap? I have a 07 D7 with an SLP Pipe/Can that fits as tight as the factory can, I can't imagine exhaust freely going back up into the engine compartment. There is also a factory plastic donut ring around the exhaust hole.

I was thinking the same thing, my HPS can outlet pipe fits perfect into the stock donut.

On a side note, Polaris should make the replacement plastics kits with no exhaust holes. I'll bet 1/2 the people who converted to 09+ plastics kits had to drill new holes and cover the old one that's oriented forward for the stock can.
my .02 cents

my slp can fit perfectly last year. Around the stock exhaust there is a rubber gasket (goes around the down pipe) that fills the hole perfectly.

You probably left it on the stock can.

At least that's what happen to me last year!:face-icon-small-win

Hmmmmm

The rubber gasket is in place. The can fits through the exit hole, but there is a gap at the rear of the rubber gasket. The stock one fits and seals perfectly, just thought the SLP one should too. It is the #09-289, which is for the 09 dragon.I have tried adjusting the gasket orientation in the hole, and same result.
Francios, did yours fit as tight as the stock can?
thanks guys

Mine did not fit perfect on my 09 d-8 either, just do as mentioned above and use black rtv high heat silicone to seal around it. I think you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.:face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-ton
