SLP 777 kit

I see where slp has a deal on their 777 kit and since mine is down I was thinking now would be the time. Has anyone installed this kit and what is the turn around time normaly.Do they use steel liners in the cylinders and how well do they run on pump gas? I am thinking that I have to replace my mag side piston and rings anyway.

Personally I would spend the money and go with carls cycle 770 kit, just because I know their stuff works well. I've had some porting done by them and have been around several of their big kits and they run well and have been really reliable. With that being said, I have only seen one slp set-up, and it ran good also. But if where me, for riding at higher elevations I would do a Carls Cyle kit.

I looked at carls kit also they sound similiar. Both are also located here in Idaho Slp builds aftermaket parts for all sleds Carls is a dealership. I wish sw would do more comparison on turbos , bigbores, pipes and related parts. Not all of us are going to buy a new sled every year.It would be nice if it was a independent sled builder not influenced by advertising dollars .I sure wish my sled was running.

My brother-in-law has a carls 660 that runs awesome and has been very reliable, I really think you would be happy with his kit. My ported 800 he built also ran flawlessly. But I think either kit would do great.

777

i haven't riden a 777 but did take a 727 out for the day,it was a very fun sled to ride, nice power.i would look into what kind of pistons the carls kit uses, the slp i believe uses forged wiseco's,carls may use cast pistons, good luck

I just installed the Carl's 660 cfi kit on my 09 shift last week. I'd highly suggest their kits. Very professional and timely.

FYI,
There are very few differences from the SLP version (777) and the Carl's version (770) as Carl's sources most of their engine parts from us. They do their own porting but they use the same piston we do. Some of these kits use a Wiseco and some use a cast piston. The ones that use the Wiseco are not an off the shelf Wiseco. They are built to our specification for us and only us and then coated on the sides and top. This makes them perform more like a cast piston meaning they do not suffer from some of the side effects that some people disliked about previous Wiseco's. Either kit will perform about the same and have good reliability.

I personally spent a lot of time on our 777 back to back with the original 08 dragon 800 with an SLP single. The 777 was a tad faster on top and had better throttle response, but the 800 had a bit more torque off the bottom. I preferred the 777 back then...mainly because of the quicker reving power...it just had a better fun factor. Fast forward three years to how the 800 runs now after all the updates. The 777 will out preform any good running 800 with ease and be more reliable to boot. Given my choice I would take a 777 over a 2008-2010 800 any day. If you want to build a good sleeper, buy a 700 CFI and put a 777 on it.....you will have a blast.

Very good information Dustin. I have had my eye on that kit since I bought my '08 700. I have a few questions. Can the regular SLP 700 pipe be used with the 777 kit (since I already have it) or is the 777 pipe a must?

I would go with either kit way before I would do a 800 cfi4 motor, and if I had a 800 dragon I was keeping I would do the carls 860 kit with the really nice separate cylinders , friend has one and it just makes all the 800 issues go away and GREAT power..but $$$$$
