sliverlake mfg sled deck weight

Anyone know the exact weight on these decks? I tried to check their website today and found it's off the air.

I am trying to figure out the right way to transport my new sled this fall(my first and only one right now). I have done lots of research this summer and consensus says that a sled deck is the way to go, even if only transporting one sled, but I am not sure my half ton Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab short box can handle the weight of the deck, the sled, my gear, myself and anyone else that might be driving with me at the time(you add it all together and it comes real close to the max payload rating without taking into account gas in 26 gallon tank).

The other obvious choice would be a single place trailer, less expensive than the deck, but changes driving and parking habits and options. Of course, the least expensive would be to try and find some cheap ramp and put the sled in the back of the truck, leaving like 2'+ hanging out off the tailgate, but that means no storage in the bed at all when driving with the sled loaded. Anyone else out there move one sled around having already solved this problem?

Well you said it was a quad cab, I would think you could fit all your gear in the back seat, and if not there is still a decent amount of room in the box. Me and my buddies fit gear for 4 people in the box with a sled in there, somehow :D I would think you'd be ok with a aluminum deck and 1 sled on a 1500. Your allowed around 1500lbs I believe, deck shouldn't be more then 400.

Yeah, there would still be room in the cab for gear, I am just trying to figure the best ergonomically, economically, and have a set up for further expansion of the sled collection.:D My truck payload capacity is 1510lbs, so with a sled deck at 400, 09 Summit x etec at like 500-525 with all fluids(no dry weight guessing here, besides if it's less all the better right), 200lbs for myself, and 200lbs for gear, gas, etc, I think it would be ok, even with the ability to drive another person up the hill if need be. I would like to know if anyone else is doing a sled deck in their half ton and what their experience with it is before I were to drop the coin(will probably end up just putting it in the bed anyway:confused:)

Mike told me mine is 375 with the ramp inside of it. Take the ramp out....325.

Mine is a 2005-06 version. No telescoping sides. Beavertail. Fits in a shortbox superduty.

scott

yours is only 320 with the ramp in it--expandable is 375--sorry about mix-up, and thanks for the heads up on my site--its up now--mike
