SledWerx ShockWave

Matt,a big triple in one of these sounds insane, heck, my NA 700 is way fun as its so light, that much torque sounds like an blast to ride!

Just watching this videos makes me want to go ride again, reminded me how easy they are to ride! was out on my last ride with my dads M7 which i have always thought was a really easy sled to sidehill and i felt like i was riding a tank getting off one of these things.

got some ideas to make them even better for next year, and a bit lighter.

Im just wondering if having that light of a sled with the majority of the weight of a big tripple up front will make it seem to front end heavy like the xp's.

My impulse apex is heavy but it is still balanced better than alot of 2s twins.

I was wondering how hard it would be to stuff a wc in a pro, I dont think there is enough room in the pannels and hood to stuff it all in there. My prox is getting a bit wore out and I have been wondering what chassis to put that motor into next.

The idea of a 400 lb rock solid chormo tube chassis with a 200+hp twin is very appealing, although a 250 hp tripple with all the grunt in the world isnt a terrible idea either!

I think to make a triple fit one would have to center the engine in the chassis and raise it up a bit.. The steering mechanism would have to be modified some to fit the pipes but I think it could be done.
This would mean redesigning the chain case and or belt drive top gear portion of the case so the secondary clutch and belt would clear the tunnel. I think this would be a good idea to do to the twin engine mounting as well. The nose tubing could be pushed out a bit as well to make a little more for pipes/ turbo or what ever.. But as it is there are some good options with twin engines for power. 1010 cat or 1150 twin as well.... I'm not keen on air enhancement..

thats what my rx1 motor weighed and it really wasnt bad as we put the motor pretty far back in the bulkhead and i liked it. was a little nose heavy, but with a decent set of ski's it wouldnt be bad.

a bigbore cat is something i am contemplating for next year as well, in something this light with a good track, it would be pretty impressive. that would put you to where we are running the turbo's at, maybe a hair under at elevation, but much more simple and less to worry about. i dont think stuffing twins in it would be to bad either.

send us a motor and im sure we could fit it. just would need to adapt the front a little to give it some room. we built our nose cone around a single doo pipe to keep it as a small as possible.

Did you guys weigh the cfi twin? I would guess in the 90 lb range without all the extras such as pipe and Turbo. A pretty decent amount of weight when the point of this build is revolving around weight. Its tough trying to decide which way to go naturally asperated twin sub 400 lbs, a Turbo twin with good power in the 415 lb range or a big triple in the say 440 lb range with tons of power reliability and torque.

Did you ever get a weight on the tube trx1 chassis?

Sounds like the cat engine to doo chassis swap using the doo 8 pipe works real well. So as mentioned earlier about the ram horn intake what about a ram horn exhaust say over top of the cross brace?

I weighed my 700 doo motor with y-pipe and primary on it and it was right around 90# so im betting the cfi is pushing 100 in the same state. i was surprised how heavy it was.

as for the rx1 setup, trying to dig the numbers out of my brain, it was a very unpolished sled with a decent sized steel propane tank instead of an aluminum one and i want to say she was coming in around 500 dry as the header/turbo/external wg weighed almost 50# and the steel tank was far from light.

the cat twin is calling my name as i bet even in NA form it would rip and there is plenty of space i bet you could even stuff twins in it with some cutting and twisting. but yeah, the doo pipe seems to work well with em, so a good idea to start, and much simplier in there. I do also have a 3071 and all the stuff to make a carb turbo setup, so not like i couldnt help it breathe if i wasnt satisfied. but the NA twin would likely put me right around 400 dry depending on my drive system, and that is a simple clean setup to say the least, with my current NA setup there looks like so little going on under

what diameter and wall thickness are you guys using? Looks fairly small, obvisously plenty strong and solid.

used 3/4x.035 the stuff is very strong but you do have to plan a lot to use such thin material as rivet holes, etc will give you troubles if your not careful.

M8 HO: 100% Complete engine, y-pipe, power valves/servo = 81.4lbs
M1200: 100% Complete engine, y-pipe, power valves/servo = 92.8lbs
Pro 800: Scrap metal...

I thought the m1000 was alot heavier than that??? Ill take my wc triple any day of the week over that cat motor! Just about finished building another with the spare parts in my shop. Gunna put it in a studded and slammed gras drag rail with a healthy dose of N20, then its gunna need a home when the snow flies, hummmmm??????

are these something you guys are looking into building and selling or selling prints to? or just keeping it for personal builds? if so would you consider selling the a arms and mount peices?

Would really like to see the 900 cat motor in one of these. May be interested in purchasing a roller if it does happen.
