Sledders BEWARE in Albany

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
Thats well put. It is not Albany Lodges fault as they have catered exclusively to the snowmobilers and they came. Unfortunately the vermin come with them. It happens everywhere massive groups of people gather.:(
Don't get me wrong I wasn't bashing one bit...Albany lodge is a great place. I just want people out there to know that nothing is safe and maybe have a heightned sense of awareness....You're 100% correct, the vermin are out there and I would hate to see anyone else fall victim.

I know I should maybe start a new thread for this, but has anybody tried a motion security system for a snowmobile. I know they work great on Harleys just wondering if anybody has seen one work in person and/or if a battery is needed on the sled. Thanks.

:light:such a simple thing, it should work!!!:light: especially if you can here it from the hotel and able to interface it with a smith&wesson.:beer;:beer;

I have never had any problems there and love the place. This week I'll be watching my chit. Anything goes down there will be some sorry thieves. Hopefully it was a group riding there and it was a one time thing.

door dinger

Just buy a wireless door dinger you can buy them at menards for $20 put a senser under the hood so if it gets opend it dings and put another senser under the seat if it gets removed it dings, and put the dinger in your room. Then if your group hears the dinger Go out and give them a beating. they will never know it is there and you will have busted them before they can take off running.

We were out last year and buddy's wife wrecked her sled left it on the mountain that night, next day spent all day getting it out. Buddy and wife were going to leave next morning so they loaded up every thing but the clothes they were going to wear the next day in the 2 place enclosed trailer and when we got up the next morning someone stole their trailer from the parking lot at the motel 6 in Laramie. Trailer was hooked to truck but didn't have a lock on it, our open trailer was parked right next to it with a cheep $10 lock on it and was still there. We made out report and headed home, after we got home there was message they found trailer 10 miles in country sleds were still in trailer but tools and gear were gone. Next weekend had to drive from Iowa to pickup trailer and sleds.

Yes, the Laramie police told us the thieves, thus far, are targeting the easy hits. Simple locks are better than no lock.

Woke up this morning to find 3 boss seats, 2 nitrous bottles, an a/f gauge, prefilters, smashed filterpods, clutch cover and belt stolen from sleds in our group. All while sleds were sitting in front of the motel.

I suggest to you guys in or on their way up to albany lodge to keep sleds in enclosed trailer at night under lock and key...if not then pull off seats at night and keep them in your room.

We talked to you a bit that morning at the Lodge and someone had said they had some possible suspects pulled over? Anything become of that? We also had our enclosed trailer parked (just South of where your sleds were) and found that when I got home, my 1/2 Dewalt Impact and fuel jugs were also stolen that night. Several of our sleds storage compartments were found unzipped and filled with snow that night, but hadn't thought anything of it until we got home.

the had suspects pulled over, searched them but didnt find anything..however the ones that got pulled over were from ND and claimed they were riding alone but they were not, there was another truck and trailer that these people were seen riding with...from what i know the 2 groups came to albany together and left together.

The stuff wasn't stolen off my sled, I was staying in centinnial with a couple other guys but the rest of our group was up in albany.

stolen gear in Laramie

My buddy was packed up and ready to head back to North Dakota last night and had his gear bag and an ice auger stolen out of the back of his truck in west Laramie last night. I Guess no where is safe from theft anymore!

Considering sledders have been losing their chit the last number of years from local parking lots and then reporting here... no! Lock your stuff up, sledders, you can no longer trust that your stuff is safe when you come to visit.

TTT.......anyone hear of any follow up to this or did they have any leads on our stolen stuff? I hadn't heard anything since from the Albany Sherriff....

UPDATE!!!!!!

found the seats and nitrous bottles, lets see if the guy comes clean....and makes it right

People who pull **** like this deserve to have their souls mutilated and set on fire until they are burned into non-existance.

I hate theives with a passion.

WOOOHOOO get a rope. I know it's not cattle rustling but punishment should be the same. I may not work that hard at my job but I am still here for 8 hours (lol). And I just hate people that steal. Especially gas can. Hell I will give a sledder gas if he needs it. I don't mind. But, to steal the seats, nos, cluth cover, belts that is just wrong. I feel for you....Jeff from Berthoud colorado

i'm not going to say anything about it yet... hoping the situation will resolve itself
