Sleddeck or Trailer????

06 GMC LBZ CCSB. 5" exhaust, EGR blocker, rail shim, TransgoJr, Cognito leveling kit with 295/65/18 Duratracs and a custom EFI Live tune.

07 GMC CCSB LBZ with 4" exhaust, EGR blocker, rail shim, cognito leveling and 275/65/20 Duratracs with edge evo tuner here(stage 3 85hp tune), and airbag system. Almost exact same set up truck. :face-icon-small-coo

with 2 sleds at 75 mph round trip from salt lake city to idaho/wyoming I usually get 16.5 mpg. Slow her down to speed limit (65) and im 17.5 mpg. empty runs (with sled deck) I can pull 19-20 at 75mph, 21 at 65mph. These trucks do awesome for fuel when they are set up right! :yo:

Guess I will chime in also...I have both a 2 place alum enclosed and a sled deck. I drive a 08 Mega with some of the good things also air bags and just added a swaybar. Would have just a deck if money was a factor, Use a step ladder to get up and down and sometimes just unload with forklift. Don't worry about unloading cause truck and deck fit into shop. Loaded up with studs it is not even close to which setup I want to use. Even with a light weight trailer it can get ugly fast, with the deck it is just so much easier. I thought I would be taking the trailer on long trips but always seem to just use the deck. The trailer gets used more for motorcycles and hauling things when it rains, so if you can only have one and need to haul street bikes or ?? maybe the trailer would be the ticket. Buy what you want, you can always sell it and change later.

How do you fakkers with deck gas up your sleds?
Do you wear jet packs?
Do you have a helicopter come in & help?
Do you carry a step ladder?
Do you levitate?
Pogostick?

Just wondering, that's all.

I put my tailgate down, hop on tailgate using the bar on the deck to hold on to then step up on the deck.

Step on rear tire while grabbing side rails of deck. Then muscle yourself up with your arms in a locked position, then swing your leg up and over the rail and manipulate yourself onto the deck. Takes some effort. Some days if I'm feeling lazy I just drop the load ramp and walk up. The tailgate trick mentioned only works with an 8ft box FYI.

That pic is a shorbox dodge with a 7ft deck. With a 6'6 length short box and a 8ft deck there is enough room to get onto the tailgate. Just need to get half of your foot on, just like a step.
