I just finished a full wrap on mine including the tunnel.
#1 concern is making sure the surface is clean and free of oils and wax etc. I bought a full kit from AFX with wax/grease stripper, a normal cleaner to use after that, and a fluid for application. Clean, clean, clean. lol
I would apply them wet for sure. I used the application fluid I got from AFX. Just sprayed the surface I was putting the decal on and it gave me some wiggle room to get the decal just right. Once you have the decal just where you want it, start pressing and squeegying the water out. Continue this until all the liquid and air is out of the decal. Then I ran a heat gun along the new decal and continued to push along with my fingers.
The tunnel was way harder to do, as it has the ribs on it for strength. (Or pleasure). It was very hard to get all the water and air out of the big decal as the ribs just trapped it. I ended up pushing and squeegying what I could, then took my razor and tapped a bunch of tiny non seeable holes all along the decal. Then I pushed out all the water I could. Then I ran the heat gun along it and continued to run my fingers along the decal again. Any remaining pockets of air or water, I just tapped a bunch of holes with the razor again until I could get it out. Then I ran the heat gun over to set the decal.
That was all I did and it was my first time, it came out perfect everywhere. And no, you cant see the tiny holes I tapped with the razor.
One thing that surprised me was all the cutting and trimming I had to do. For some reason, I wasn't expecting to have to do that. But I'm glad there was the bit of extra material on all the pieces as it helped put the decal in the perfect spot and make up for any panel imperfections.
The decals aren't hard to apply, but they are time consuming to do right.
