Sled mods/changes for next season...What're you doin?

for what its worth.
my Rev was ~40 lbs lighter (with 10g of fuel and light wt e-start) compared to my Nytro (w/ 10g of fuel)
granted, if i put the same $ to drop weight on my Rev, that number (or difference) would be much larger. "shocks, front end, rear suspension" was all stock on the Rev...

4stroke will always be heavier..the engine alone carries a lot of that extra weight..which in turn means more chassis / support to hold it.

we'll always be playin weight games as long as sleds exist. :P

so maybe it really doesn't matter as much as "what works well for you" in the end.
when my nytros not moving aka stuck, its a pig..no doubt..its much harder to unstuck, no lies.
when my nytros wot in 5' of fresh...well, then...its not a pig. :P and its a blast to ride!
w/ a turbo on the Doo, i really doubt that u'll regret it. well, except clutching/belts...but...hey...1 step at a time maybe. ;)

man, i've turned into such a doo hater...must be the people i'm surrounded by all the time... hahah

converting my 97 Summit 670 to 06 Rev Summit X 151 skid from the stock 136 that was extended to 151 having the shocks rebuilt on the 06 skid .
Sportech windshield
BRP Skid plate
Venting rear of hood better
Tach on handlebars
Custom seat like an Axess building now, if it doesn`t work out will convert to 06 or 07 summit seat.
Black Handguards
repainting hood
already built my 2whl kit w/ cutdown stock axle.
maybe Hps Can if I can afford it by then.

Most of these mods already done except finishin the rear skid and seat.

If anyone has the 06 or 07 summit seat for sale I have been looking for please pm me or e-mail to wildcard28@msn.com

ohh yeagh i also plan on installing a toggle switch that will allow me to go from 12 lbs to 16lbs :)

could that be done with the two stroke setups?
It'd be nice to be able to run the turbo at 8.5 lbs (pump gas-ish) and switch to 12 or so to hammer up something.

how would u handle the fuel issue, obviously can't have a tank full of 91 octane and go from 8lbs to 12lbs. if your running race or a mix...why wouldn't u just run the boost to match.

the switch would be good for say... "hmm 8 feet of fresh (yes.../boggle that idea!!) expected today...switch to 17#, fill tank w/ race fuel, HAMMER ON!"
granted, i can already do this by pushing a button 3 times. :D hehehe but not going to sit on race fuel...soooo...

then again, you do that, and you'll prob just be buying race fuel to support the habbit from then on. LOL

2003 Polaris 800 Vertical Edge

I am going to stick with the oldie, but it is by far the best snowmobile I have ever owned. I bought it with the following upgrades: 6 inch bar riser, ice scratchers, lefty throttle, ported track, clutch work and an SLP pipe. Last year I added the SLP air kit. This year, I am going to add V-Force Reeds and change out the skis. Like always, I am going to have Adam Perau go through the whole sled and make sure everything is good-to-go. I am thinking about getting the running boards done by Quinton. I am very happy with this sled. It kicks azz and gets me to places I probably shouldn't venture.

I can run the M8 to around 13 psi with 2.5 gal of race, but Abby doesn't need to run around at that level all the time, so it would be nice to be able to switch easily. Right now I have to open the hood & side panel to adjust boost. We tend to run it at 9.5 to 10, but we turn it up or down during the day & it's hit & miss finding the boost level you're looking for. If we want to max it out, it takes two or three times of turning it to be sure we don't go too far, that would be my main thing, just being able to know exactly where it is as it goes up.

oh i got what your after now. u sharing the boosted sled! :)

well, the other issue i foresee is clutching..u either clutch for in between each boost range. or...u clutch for "your boost" setting, and it'll just underev w/ lower boost.

now what we need in sleds is electronic-clutches..as one side of the clutch sees more torque/power, it tells the otherside to add additional "weight" to counter overreving, and vice versa. this would work great in conjunction to altitude compensation too..knowing that as elevation increases, power will be loss, thus inefficient clutching..etc..
doos tra/clickers are a step in this direction in some crude manner..it just needs to be smoooth and automated. :D
along w/ smart-efi, u'd have a totally dialed sled every day, every ride. ahhhh...the fantasy world? or is it..

mmmm where technology can lead with enough support to push it along , eh.

So far Abby's sled has been 100% dialed & has been running within the range that it should Rpm wise whether running 9 or 13 (under revs a bit at 7.5-8 though, but we probably won't run it there). Haven't felt the need to change anything at all. I just want to be sure of where the boost is because I've noticed a few sweet spots in the boost range where it just feels a little bit smoother & to be able to return to that point easily would be cool.

SO.. back to the original question, can it be done on a 2 smoke?? The dial is kind of a pain.

Boondocker was talking about a electronic blow off that did just what you speak of......

Maybe it could be adapted to you cutler ?

Not the most informed turbo guy, but I think you mean waste gate, right?

It seems like it would be a doable thing?

Trey did this on his sled and i believe you set the MCX Box at one setting and the waste gate at the other and I don't know which one is high or low. I don't have a lot of info but was complaining to Trey once about how adjusting boost using a boost controller was annoying and he mentioned this idea.

Of all the sleds out on the snow today, I am actually looking for a Yamaha Phazer MTX. Must be in good condition and clean. I'm using the Phazer chassis as the platform for a mod sled.
Please contact me if you know of a Phazer MTX in the Colorado area that's for sale. Thanx!
