Sled meet rock

Was hitting a nice sized jump on Monday, was going a bit bigger and a bit further left each time, 3rd hit landed on a coffee table sized rock with no more than a few inches of snow on top of it. Took the impact right to the belly pan, skis straddled the rock. Belly pan is dented up and is against the crank case, hopefully no damage there, front of tunnel where the front cooler is mounted got pretty bent up, actually knocked the front cooler clean off, my friend went and found it in the snow. One lower a-arm is bent. Otherwise she looked pretty good, until we pulled the muffler out and saw this. Summer fix, seasons done.

skid plate?

invest in a good skid plate. you would have had alot less damage if you had one. Like a hole shot plate.

Yah I've got one of the plastic doo belly pans, wasn't on when this happened....don't think it would have done a hell of a lot in this case, maybe slightly better, but I imagine I would still be doing all the same repairs, just repairing parts that were slightly less damaged, if that makes sense. For some bumps and scrapes I believe it would help, not this one.

That s-module support looks interesting, will keep it in mind for when I fix it, as I doo want to put it back together better than stock wherever possible.

i smashed into a tree and ripped my A arms off and the E modual cracked same as yours. gay part is that the only way u can buy it to replace it is as a whole unit that comes with the s modual on the other side {the bracket behind the clutch} i just got mine in today cost me 300 $cnd ..... hope u didnt hurt your chain case cause that will lead to a huge process to fix. good luck

Looking at that, and I have no experience with the "modules" and such,...

It looks as they are almost designed to disintegrate upon an impact. Am i right?
Instead of the sheet metal, it is a casting.

Yah it's cast and broke in several places....crumple zone? Ha. Labour intensive thing to replace, but if that's all the damage that's there from a blow like that then I dunno, maybe that's how they designed it to work? Wonder how a machined piece of the same shape would perform instead of the casting? If this module got too strong, I wonder what would break instead?

that will buff out. Ouch. How far did you fly after impact

Actually almost stayed on...bounced about 10 feet in distance, superman style over my bars, when the sled hit the ground the second time I shoulder planted into the ground. Body is sore in the wrists and elbows from the impact, otherwise ok. DMF, the s module actually looks ok I think.

Stripped it down today, all plastic, gas tank, wiring etc is all off, just a tunnel with an engine, and clutch and oil tank I guess.....haven't taken the rear skid out yet either. Wasn't happy to find that one of the steering column support bars that triangulates back over the gas tank to the tunnel is also broken, from the corrosion on the cast bolt flange (stupid!) it looks like it's been broken for quite some time.....it broke right where the brake line has a clamped guide on the top of the bar.

The more I have this thing apart the less happy I am with how weak it all is. Lightest sled on the market doesn't mean anything if it's all so flimsy.

wasnt flimsy till you tried turning it into a rock crusher, theres not a sled out there that would take that kind of impact. glad your still in one peice
