Sled Jack

Well Folks,

Thank you for all of your fine inputs and presentation of the pro's and con's as each of you saw them. As I am putting out a small fortune on emergency gear and "nice to haves" this season between my wife's sled and mine, I'll have to go with the pow jack and hope I don't have to use the warranty. Appreciate your time and assistance.

Safe riding.

at the end of the day i'm just glad most my riding buddies have one. (orginal, knock off, copy cat, whatever). It saves me a ton of energy and i don't have to worry about them getting stuck in the trees where it may be hard to get to them.

have fun with it. It takes a few tries to get used to it but once you understand how to use it you'll love it.

So do I have this right. There are 3 companies that all make a similar style jack? All are located in or around Gunnison? Is that correct?

Uncle Bill

Buy Uncle Bills, if you don't like - he will buy it back:D

If you want I will call and see where He will be riding. You can pick one up on the spot.

Snowjack Gunnison
highjacker Pitkin (near gunnison)
Pjack Pagosa Springs

It is interesting that all three are a stones throw from each other. Anyway, Logger, I will consider your offer but for the time being, I will be going in next Friday for another back operation, third of the year, and will be out of action for a few months while things mend. It would be great to simply meet you and Bill simply to say hello, if for nothing else.

Safe riding.

Thanks Bushmaster, I didn't know the price had came down that far. I just bought the powderjack online for $139.00.

And about that quality verses price thing. Anybody name the premier v-twin motorcycle of the 40s and 50s? The first production bike to go 150mph? Had Harley beat so bad it was tragic, but price killed them. Anybody name that brand?

WOW snowmark you got it already. Too bad Vincent were so expensive. In the early 50s they built the first jet ski. The bikes from the 40s had "monoshock" rear suspension.

Here he is on the start of the 150mph run in 1948

Ok ok, sorry about hijacking thread back on topic now. Can't wait to see jack after it is delivered.

snow jack

hats off to harmon, that is the pitkin man. give credit to him for something we all could have done, but none did. he made a buck on all of us but nobody complained about it until somebody else copied him. quit complaining and give him a hand, he was the smart one not the copy cat.

Not to get too far off topic but the Vincent Black Lightning used a lot of magnesium for as many components as they could and hit 150mph while still only running around 70hp. Not to mention there were only about 30 of the Lightnings made. It was a lot lighter than the Black Shadow (we had a Shadow when I was a kid, still have the '57 Pan) but damn, that was a cool bike, wish it were still around. If they ever produced the new ones I would buy it, in spite of a Honda engine.

Powderjack arrived at my house today. Unfortunately I am in mid Texas working until Xmas. Colorado Springs is gonna look really good after two months working in Texas.

Can't wait to try the powderjack.

One more choice. Not a copy, a different idea!

I saw one of these a few years ago, seemed to work fine and was a lot easier to mount than my hijacker. More chances to loose parts since it breaks down to fit in a small pack.
I also heard the story about "a nephew of a friend of my cousins girlfriend", saw a guy loose his finger getting it caught in the jack cable. Probably started by someone that didn't like competition, But we all know about urban legends.
