Sled in truck bed?

you roll like that if you want some more exercise and less visibility in your rig. no need to put up tail gate . one tie down is usually good enough

I ran all season last year with my sled in the back. No problems. Not even on my line-X. :D:beer;

Yeah I cant see a difference with the gate up or down? just a style thing? How do you even get the tail gate up? lift the sled and have a friend shut it?

I've run with the tailgate down for years without any issues.

Now if you have short box and long track you might notice more of a problem if bouncing on bumpy road, ie skis touching box and back of track riding on corner of tail gate.

One good thing with the tailgate up is if someone rear ends you the sled won't get wacked.

Its for SPEED! Duh!
Like when you see spoilers on little front wheel drive cars, The sled acts as a spoiler to keep the truck planted on snowy roads getting to your favourite spot!

Either that or you are really proud of your new super deep lug track, or you like to make old people laugh at you saying "Look at all those holes in his track haha, them darned kids! Looks like someone drilled them too..."

Or ashamed of the new rip in the seat and don't want mama in her car to see it...

I just put mine in the back, leave the tailgate down on two trucks and dont have one on the third, don't even strap it. Only fell out once (Forgot the parking brake and doing donuts in some fresh powder)

With the gate up going down a rough rode it could pound out the corners of the box where the gate pivots. A good way to convert your box sides to wings that flap in the wind. Pulling trailers fast down gravel roads is what kills your paint. Gravel hits the trailer frame and shoots back at the truck. I like the gate down but I wouldn't drive in town like this, someone may want to compress your sled to a cool 8' long instead of 10'.

Why is there a post about this every year, yeah it's dumb to all you cool people out there. I run with mine up and stack gear along the sides and under the track. Would rather look dumb than have gear scattered across
I-80. But to each there own i guess.

I had a trailer with a jack that didn't fold away. Had to put the gate up to tow the trailer.

What? I look dumb? :o If only I was as cool as all you guys that don't put your tailgate up. Someday...Someday.

If yer towing a trailer then you might need to put it up. But I don't see how it would matter if yer not. I put mine in backwards sometimes and put a block of wood behind the track so the tunnel dosn't hit the window, when your ready to go you just fire er up and smash the throttle and out ya go!!! (This would be good for people without reverse...)

So people without reverse can simply throw their sled in reverse and back it into the bed?

....... Can't say as I've EVER seen a sled hauled backwards (down the highway) with the hood staying intact before...

Some parts of the country up here you aint even allowed to haul your sled with the gate down if she sticks out past your tailgate cuz 2" paddle tracks aint rated for a 5mph crash .. Thats what your bumper is for lol.

a little trick to help getting your ramp in place. When you drop your tailgate, put on a 2 x 12" (that is about the width of your track) so that it will be under your track when you finish loading. This way, your track is elevated off the tailgate and your ramp slides on and off. You won't have to lift your sled to get the ramp under it.
