Just finished up a 3500 mile road test with this bad boy to Colorado and back from Ohio
The sides are a 1.5x1.5x1/8in angle frame with 3/16 angle cross members
There's a winch on the top to pull the sled if you can't quite drive it up and a two piece ramp that ends up about 8ft long.
Certainly a few tweaks that could be made but it does a damn good job of letting us carry a 700+lb Summit 1000 while still maintaining the whole bed for gear hauling/sleeping, a toolbox for storage, and no trailer to screw with.
Withstood plenty of 70mph turns on I-70 and trips in and out of the rough roads at Vail Pass and Jones Pass.
Whole project cost a bit over $500
