Sled Deck plans

I just finished an aluminum sled deck. It is 2x2 in square tube on 16 in centers. Deck is 72 by 96 with 14 by 36 inch slide in platforms for the skis.

Materials:
200 lb aluminum @$3-3.50/lb
2 sheets 1/2 inch plywood
1000 lb truck hoist $150
3000 lb 12v winch $90
fastened to bed with 4 camper turnbuckles
about $1000 total
about 250 lbs for deck plus 120 lbs for winch and hoist

i haul atvs, sleds and hound dogs with my deck. takes me about 2 weeks to build one working on it in the evenings. used to be able to build one and sell it for $800 a couple years ago. ramp is 9 ft long, one piece, has low pro glides on one side for sleds, flip it over and drive atv up the cross bars on the other side. has about 12 inch drop on the beaver tail so you have a 10 ft ramp. tail gate clears beaver tail by about an inch when you open it. ramp stows under the deck in a track above the white board with the dog door in it.

how wide is your ramp? its must be under 4ft with your wheelwells and the deck stand

That is pretty close to what my deck is and mine is all 1 1/4 tubing, and the outside rails 4"x1/2" plate. It holds my two sleds fine, and they are no light xp's! The ramp is 1 1/4 to and it's overbuilt for sure, the ramp weights like 80lbs and is pretty ackward. Some changes I would make is nice big side rails to hold your skis from going over. Also just make 4 corner legs, so you can build your ramp like 52" wide, it will make loading a lot easier. 48" ramp works but you have to line up your sled perfect when your skis are about 46". Just another point, I would consider making the headache rack full width, if your skis hit it you can bend something if one ski is taking the blunt instead of both.

Might as well through my name on the list for plans, bjslavik@svsu.edu

Trying to workout my own plans currently and starting from scratch has been a headache when you don't have a lot of extra time to work with.

Thanks
