Anyone got some pictures of their mountain sleds on a sled deck on a 6'8" bed truck?

Trying to figure out if the M will look goofy hanging off the back of my Super Duty.

Thanks!

What size bed is on your SD? Maybe we can get a deal on 2...

There has to be some dealers in ND and MN willing to help out us Canadians :)

I still want to see some pictures before I decide. I might end up just building it myself. Have welder, will build.

If you want to get into your tailgate without hitting your head all the time...and you get a beavertail, you'll WANT a short bed and not a long bed.

Scott, thanks for the picture. Can you elaborate a little more on the head hitting problem? I don't follow.

Can anyone else comment on this? I'd be putting 2 M7s on the deck. 162 and 153 respectively. It would be used for the 1100 mile trip to Island Park 2-4 times a year.

Well, when you stand up at your tail gate, and your taller than a dwarf, (ThistleDoo) you'll hit your head on the underside of your deck.

get a bobtail not a beavertail. Also sled decks on shortbeds with long tracks are a dime a dozen around here. no issues or worries at all.
the deck pictured is a beavertail, i have since gone to a bobtail. the bobtail is much easier to get into the back of the truck and to climb up onto the deck.
disclaimer i try not to plow with the sleds on but i had no choice this day.

Tim, what length sled is that?

That picture doesn't exactly say "safe stable load" to me. I think I'd prefer the longbox to do this with.

The Apex in the picture is a 162" we have not had any issues with short box pickups and long track sleds. Surface area of the deck is the same, still about 8 feet. Those two sleds rode for 350 miles on that deck and the deck was not even tied into the bed of the truck, (shop guys forgot to tied it down before we left for the show). Our decks are very stable the support legs sit directly under the sleds in the corners of the bed, so all the weight is directly over the supports.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. That's all i've run, and it's SOLID. You don't lose anything. I've actually had a 7 foot deck before, and had no issues at all. Decks are definitely the way to go! So much of the weight of the sleds is to the front, anyways, that it can't even really be considered an issue, in my opinion.

the sleds on there are a 151 and a 156. I have loaded 163 and 159's no problem. The majority of the weight is over the rear axle. I have been using short box sled decks for about 5 years and no problems driving or anything like that.

LOOKING FOR NEW TRUCK AND GOING TO GO WITH THE DECK i was wondering if any of you pull a trailer with the short box plus deck and then trailer?

If it's an enclosed v-nose, you'd better make sure the tongue is long enough. My dad's 1996 Haulmark has too short of a tongue to be pulled by my short box Duper Duty with the beavertail deck on it. I've never actually hooked it up, but I've measured it out, and don't think I can do it.

I'm bringing this one back from the dead. Has anyone weighed their truck before/after the deck/sleds were put on?

My truck is 7200lbs without me in it. Wondering if I'll be overweight with a deck, sleds, parts, gear and passengers?

Can a mod please move this to trucks/trailers? Thanks!

Didn't Weigh it but here is a steel 8 foot sled deck with a beavertail in a foot 2008 crew cab 2500HD Chev with a 6.5 foot bed. We drove it from Minneapolis to Cooke City (1000 Miles each way) With 2 XP's on there and could hardly even tell it was on there except for the truck rode better :) The XP in the picture is a 154. The deck empty weights about 400 lbs. So add 1000 to 1100 for 2 sleds and you are at 1500lbs. Add Gear and Guys and you might have 2000 to 2200 lbs of total cargo. If you have a super duty you should be more than fine. I have actually had this same deck in my Crew cab 1500 with airbags and it did ok around town.
