Sled deck advice

holy crap decks are expensive now.

don' know if they still make them, but ski-hi makes a great deck.

have had mine for 10 years now.

300 bucks for ski glides. crazy...go buy a old bed liner from a truck company for 35 bucks and cut your own ski glides...

my deck cost me 1500 bucks and ten years later is still going strong.

nobody is showing pictures of the actual under side of the deck with the ramps inside with the tail gate down. how much room do you get under your deck to store stuff?

really 6 hours to instal a deck and you have to buy extra support legs from marathon....sorry but that sounds stupid.

i will say the telescoping sides in and out would be nice. but i am curious to know guys who have had that style for a couple of years how hard is it to get out or back in once there is a bunch of road grime and dirt and dust getting into the glide system...

personally i like a little bit of a lip on the side of my ramp, just in case i'm coming in to hot my ski's will get bounced back into the center of my ramp...instead of flying off the side...

good luck with your decision.

To answer your question about the expandable sides with the FLM deck. They recommend after the season to remove the sides and clean out the tubes to allow continuous operation. Simply unbolt one bolt on each side and then pull out the side, unplug the connectors for lights and remove to clean. FLM uses a plastic glide bushing inside their tubes.

Also how much money is a guy looking at once you put on super glides for three sled positions, the ski protection on the slide outs, and legs if needed?

PRO RMK 800

All in, 7' deck, 1' removable deck extension, full superglides, power winch, tie downs, d-rings, front super clamps, box led lighting, shipping... $6k.

The deck is supported by "jack" legs that are positioned above the frame members. The deck floats about an 1/8" above the box sides.

The space under the deck is unubstructed and fully usable since it is weather proof.

That's the same setup I run! Whereabouts in Northern MI are you located as I have yet to see another Truck Boss around here.

As far as the deck install it takes 3-4 hours if you are watch the videos and TruckBoss pre-assembles parts of the deck that used to come unassembled. For guys that are located near the manufacturing facilities it's nice that the TruckBoss ships unassembled in boxes on a pallet as it makes the shipping usually easier and less expensive.

As far as taking it in and out of the truck I just leave mine on as it's pretty much a heavy duty tonneau cover that has a vault like storage capability. Most stuff that I would ever need to put in the bed that doesn't fit under the deck can just be strapped down on top of the deck or even bolted down due to the endless amount of mounting points.

I currently have a custom made deck, had for about 10 years. It has served me well, however as I get older and my knees bother me more each year. I have been looking for something like the hydraulic decks. Something like the one these people make, www.tufflift.net. Has anyone tried one of these or similar? I would not be putting three sleds on it like in their video.

I agree with what Blown Motor has been saying... Silver Lake decks are great. I've been running one for 5 years with expandable sides and have never had to remove and clean, always slides easy. Another nice thing is I can load and unload by myself in less then 15 minutes. I have to say it's held up well due to running two Turbo Apexs up the ramp for the past 5 years... they're not easy on ramps and no issues at all. Give Mikey or Shane a call and get one ordered, you won't regret it.
