Sled choise for 09 Hmmm .......

Not sure what the M8 HP #'s are this year but I did ride an 09 M8 and the factory rep told us that the track is lighter and results in reduction of rotating mass equal to 10HP. Also if I remember correctly the diamond drive is supposed to be more efficient than a chaincase which also helps.

If this info is true than even if the dragon did have 10 or so more horse you may not even notice it compared to the M8. Ride them all and decide which one you prefer.

well that might explain "seat of the pants" performance gains test riders have felt on the 09 vrs the 08 models.

That and their less over all weight from the 08 sleds.

I'd still get the 09 M8 SE over the Dragon or XP

throw on an SLP pipe combo and you'd have everybit the HP the other two have :)

but you'd be less weight than the XP but with the realibility of the Cat M8's

win win win!

Do Arctic Cat reps get free crack pipes and all the crack they can smoke as part of the job?:face-icon-small-sho

we rode the 2009 M8's and 1000's this weekend...the M8 hands down by all riders was the better choice...

only comparison I can give you on the D8 vs. the M8 is an 09 M8 vs. the 08D8 and can tell you that first ahdn experience same day...M8 crushed it...If I were buying smoker, it would be a M8...

but I am getting a hairdryer on a Nytro...

Oh come on...? I'll say it.... 09 XP, It will still rule in 09... Lets hear it,, I can take it..

i have rode the 09s a few times deeeeeeeep powder i dont think d8 will beat it or an xp the d8 is a great sled but it gives up alot to a m1k on the hills our group has two nytros stock cant beat a 600 anything in the deep great trail seld the d8 is great in the trees along with the m sleds but when the m1k and d8 are hitting same hill m1k beats it easy both stock and i think d8 track is better in the deep new 09 m8 will beat 08 m1k most all conditions just ride one it will suprise you it suprised me the first time and still was impressed the second ride

08 XP 163, 2 belts in 700 miles,,,, Trust me,, it's worth the eXtra Performance. Nothing else was even close... 800 POO or M8? oh come on..

It is easy to not blow belts, if you don't get the power to the track..

Rider's Opinion

I think it all depends on what feels the best to ride and what you are satisfied with. I own an 08 D8 and I have ridden an XP. The xp higmarked me, I won't lie, but I couldn't wait to get back on my sled for the ride and handling and sidehilling ability, not to mention reliability. I have met ski-doo owners who love their xp's, but as soon as they get on a dragon they don't want to get off. I think m's and dragons are at the top of the list this year, just my opinion.

Great Choice! Let's see! Do I want to be Dead Last up the hill (M8) or just 2nd to last. (D8) Buy an XP and never look back down the hill at where you would be turning around.

Is high marking all you Doo guys care about? Honestly hill climbing gets so old so fast I dont give a rats *** who can climb faster or higher.

Like Scott said pictures lots of pictures, i don't seem to hear much on how the twin pipes are working on the Dragon 800?

I'll probably keep my 07 Doo and easily ride with any of the 09's....doesn't sound like anything revolutionary is happening, so I doubt much will change outside of the internet world.

If I can do it for an un-huge expense, I might be interested in trying an 800 Dragon or an XP. Tough choice cause my 07 works really good. M-sled, well until they ride like a Doo in the stock suspension/hp department.....not interested whatsoever. If I wanted a sled that rode like my high-mile genII....I would have kept my high mile genII.

Interesting how so many people compare a D8 to theM1, and the D7 to the M8. My friend has a M7 and a M8 and he brags how the 07 M8 runs right with his 06 M7. Huh?
