Skinz Airframe Running board

Have any of you guy's ran these boards without traction screws? I just installed a set and not to sure about the screws.

I dont know I would even want to try them without any screws, on my set I dont have all of the screws in there, but a couple of rows of them on each side. I think they would be too slick for any sort of traction by themselves.

They also have an alternative coming out sometime for the traction screws, Sled Solutions posted this thread in General Snowmobiling - http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320226&highlight=airframe

I am hoping they make a set in Red, then I will definitely get some.

i have a red set of skins air frames without the narly traction screws my boots and bibs and whatever came in contact with them are still in good shape put some stuff called WINGWALK used on airplane wings paint on grit

The screws are worth it. If you have a good solid pair of boots you will be amazed at how well it works. I can't tell you how many times last year I would almost miss the running board and barely have the edge of my boot on the board and I didn't slip. No way that happens without the screws. I made it through the whole year without any kind of tears on my pants.

The screws worked for me too. Very solid feel and I had no issues with them last season.

i never said they wouldnt work i just wasnt impressed on that part of there design and i were a good set of klim boots that have plenty of traction so to me thats overkill i bet your boots are chewed up on the bottoms i do love the air frames replacing them onto another tunnel

I have Klim boots also and while they are a little chewed up from the running boards they didn't take near the abuse that they did when I had to kick my boards clean all the time.

Unto each their own but my vote is for the screws. I know some people were worried about losing the screws out of the tubes when the design first came out but I didn't lose any at all last year.

If you can hold on a bit they should be available soon, if not with carefull screw placement you can all ways remove them later and cover the screw holes with the new traction plates. I'll see if I can post up some pictures of the SPG traction plates installed later on today.

Would love to see them.

Here you go, sorry for the poor picture quality need a better camera.
Each one is about 2" wide so they cover a fair bit of space.

Had them on one of our sleds for the sled show in Saskatoon earlier this month.

How are those attached? It lookes like there is 3 or 4 screws holding them on. Cant really tell for sure though.

I built this tunnel and rails last year. I have never put any sort of traction on any tube rails i have built. I never have slipped once. My hmks are 2 seasons old and look brand new. I no longer have to kick out my rails and the traction screws do not eat my boots or bibs.
