skid set up? 2004 kk

hey
i have a 2004 kk and i am just looking for some input on what seems to be the best set up for the skids on this sled. i am going to be picking up a challenger track for it this weekend was slightly disappointed in the performance of the attack 20 last year but i am still looking for more tips on how to set this thing up so it stays on top of the snow better. thanks

Make sure your limiter straps are out all the way. Also drop brackets on the rear will help. I run sledjunky's and like them. Some guys run Holz or other aftermarket ones. Are you running extroverts?...if so, keep your track pretty loose.....Hope that helps a llittle..

The shocks need to be revalved. Find a good shock man and get them set to be more progressive. As they are now, they are hard on the top and then give up at the bottom, opposite than they should be. A good shock guy will need to know your ride weight and the type of riding you do, he will also understand the geometry of the skid.
Also, running the limiter straps all the way loose is not always the best setup. Depends on the snow conditions and how you position yourself when riding. I find I need to suck it up one hole and then add a little more load to the front skid shock otherwise control in ruts is disminished...balance the load!

I fought my 04 king for 2 years to get it to handle as good as my 04 mountain cat. Then one day while looking at them on a trailer so the skid was more eye level I saw the difference. the rear scissor lower arm is longer on the king. So after some research, I found the longer arm was a 04-05 king and m series part. The 04 mountain cat and 06 kind and ALL HCR models have the shorter arm.

the part number for the shorter arm is 1704-001
Its about $30

If you ride off trail, deep powder changing this arm is a must.

Also, I am in the minority here but I think drop brackets ruin the 1M chassis deep powder handling. Yeah they help the trail-ability of the sled but that's not where I ride mine.

well thanks for all the input! i have also heard about moving the front bar that the limiter straps mount to about a quarter to a half inch forward. i am also not a fan of the drop brackets.
