i have a 2000 summit 700 with a 144 on it currently in factory location and i found a 151 for it and was wonderin if a set back of something around 3 inches back and 2 inches down at the front bolt holes and a 2-3 inch drop in the rear hanger would do it or what? also will this change my attack agle for the better or worse?
thanks
chris

Yes, the 144 skid can be set back.....don't go DOWN, just back. Find a 2002 151 and duplicate the mounting locations, this is exactly what DOO started doing in '02.

or another way...151"-144"= 7"... 7" divided by 2= 3 1/2" of suspension setback:face-icon-small-hap if your rear axle is in the middle of it's adjustment range with the 144" track just measure the actual physical length of both tracks (to rule out a wide variation of problems...such as a stretched track or someone mighta sold you a 150" track instead:o) and do the same math before drilling and you should be stylin' the approach angle of your suspension will be reduced so you get up on the snow easier.at this point- if you drop the suspension out of the tunnel an "insane" amount it will just get your approach angle back to where ya started (or even worse:()... on the other hand if you drop it out a "sane" amount you will gain clearance past the tunnel cooler for a little better clean out (to fully benefit from this you may also have to go to slightly smaller drivers or drop & roll your drive axle "away" from the bulkhead cooler to increase the clearance in the front of the tunnel as well...but that's a whole other ball of wax;))

Set the skid back 3.5 inches, 5/8 in the front so the upper loops don't rub, and about an inch in the back. Did this on my 2000, and it performed like a 2003.
