Skid Plate

Hey all. New here - just bought a new 2008 M8. Was wondering if anyone has the heavy duty skid plate AC offers and if it's worth the extra $60 they're asking over the regular one.

are you talking about the skid plate, as in for the belly pan? if so , I have one on mine and I think I'd do it again, good peace of mind

You will be shocked to see how little there is between the engine cases and the outside world. I trimmed the outer wings off mine to let air get to my Black box air holes and put an extra rivet in the midddle and a couple extras down low.

Ya the HD skid plate doesn't fit worth a ****. I ended up taking mine off and returning it. It will pack with snow if you ride deep pow. 10lbs for the skid plate plus another 10 pounds of snow just doesn't fly

The heavy duty skid plates are nice.

Fitment took a little work to make it fit right, but no big deal.

And yes, talking about the skid plate for the belly pan. AC makes a normal one and a Heavy duty one for an additional $60. Just want to know it's worth the extra $$.

Mine just came off backorder today, so no first hand info.
I need to install because belly pan flex's into clutch and I have a nasty rock scar on the bulk head So it's worth it.

Installed my HD skid plate today. Install wasn't bad.
The holes are where they need to be and the fit was good, just used some silicone to keep snow from getting packed in.
I used my 1/4 air ratchet, but I think it would suck if trying to do it by hand.
