Skid Plate.........which one ?

I'm not sure what to go with for my M8.

Seems to be the prudent thing to do !

AC has two, the plain one and thier new huge one.

The Skinz plate didnt do much for me

Whatcha think

I have had a fare amount of damage to the side belly pans at below the clutches that are not covered/protected by the smaller one that Cat has been selling in the past.

This new huge one looks like it would protect the whole under side of the sled. It's not good when a stump or a rock hits your clutches!:D

I think I'd go with the huge one myself!:beer;

.

X2, never needed one just adds weight and takes away clearance.

I never liked them either!:(

There is no doubt in my mind that the skid plate saved my motor in case! and probably saved my DD and secondary also!

I had just put it on a week before this happened!

I dont think I'll go with out one now!:D

I really don't like how it takes away clearance, a friend of mine put one on and seemed like he was getting stuck more often and I never did. But mine is insured for that reason.

I would hate to take the chance on hiting something. It saved me last year when i hit a hidden rock. i like the one AC sells the other one is to big.

I keep going back and forth between the new one and the older smaller one

anyone have pictures of this new "big" arctic cat one?

I have only used the older skid plate on the M series and was very happy with the protection. I don't run one at all anymore for weight, but I never hit anything.

Just don't use the stupid rivets! I always use bellypan screws.

Its in the new cat accessories catalog. It is basicly the old one with wings that cover the sides ! I think its a little thicker

i installed the skinz one one mine. Looks like it will protect well. I always run em. defianley a rock and stump magnet

There were complaints of the skins holding snow, haven't heard 'bout the new cat one but it looks pretty much the same. The old cat pan doesn't protect the clutch...I dunno, still running naked.

after seeing some of them drag in the snow when a stock sled doesn't I think I would just as soon screw on a piece of 3/16" aluminum on the bottom in place of the thin plastic. that would protect all the vitals, and you would maintain clearance. the nose cone is already stiff enough and if need you could extend the bottom plate to make it wider.

I'm Trying to finish a hot rod for a guy, but if I get time I'll fab one and see if anyone wants it(prob be in a while though), I don't care for them but I hate the ones that are out.
