Ski Wheel kit problem

I have install a wheel kit on the ski and i went for my first ride yesterday. It was a pleasure to upload the hawk in my truck with that kit.

After a hour of riding i have realized that the wheel were rubbing on my ski setback. The twin axis make the ski angle too much for the clearance of the whell kit.

I want to know if i am the only one that is having that kind of problem. My ski setback is all mark now and i have pay this kit too much money for having that kind of problem

Good instalation

I have install the wheel kit like they are install in the instruction from ad boivin with the offset to the back of the ski and i have adjust my twin axis at the same tension.

Sorry, jumped the gun there, just so used to the AD B disgust, out West this would be something rarely needed and I assumed once again they had succeeded in total customer unsatification.:o

For future reference those of you having loading difficulties with any twin carbide ski use a strip of or an entire grooved plastic truck bedliner. Works like wax especially once carbides break in, their just too aggressive when new.

ski wheels

the ski wheels were designed for the explorer kit. The snowhawk mount is wider whitch causes it to rub. I know this from first hand experience. seems to work ok but looks like crap!

i took it off

I took off the wheel today to stop the rubbing .I think the kit would have to be redisigned to fit better to the hawk.It does not let the ski angle like it should be when no wheel kit is install.

I will call AD Boivin tomorow to see if they have a idea to fix the problem. My ski setback was all chrome and now it look like **** because the aluminium is all mark with sharpe edge.

I know sled2r have a kit like that ....what do you think, have you try it yet ?

I am very disapointed because the kit work flawlesly other than that.

dont sweat the marks they are easy to clean up, go over it with some sandpaper and get a little polishing kit from princess auto with some compound and a wheel for a die grinder, will clean up better than new pretty quick and easy.

fix it

you can fix it by adding some key stock material to the outer edge of the ski mount and the ski base plate to limit how far it can tip before it becomes together. I think it flexes to far most of the time anyways.

This simple option works well also....(sorry there's just a small part on the ramp showing in the pic)
Take a couple 2x6s screwed together stacked. Rip to about 5" wide or whatever you need for the carbides to "straddle" the boards. Bevel the edges & cut some notches cut out of the top one the whole length for some track traction. The ski just glides right up. Simple, cheap & works great! :beer;

Thank you everyone for all your good idea.I have called Dennis boivin today at the factory, and he told me that somebody is making test with the kit for now and he was telling me that they may end up with a mod that would apply only on the snow hawk kit.

A idea he gave me was to grind a bit the ski setback by quarter inch on each side to stop the stabbing with each other, without reducing the force of the setback.

Me for my self i was thincking of installing some small rubber pads.

All see what i can do and test a couple things for a couple hours and get you back on that.

ski adapter mod

HI every one

here is the mod that AD boivin send me this morning.A guy name Pascal did that and tested hard and it stop rubbing and everything.

You need to cut 1/4 to the adapter on each side
