Hey who makes these, have started to see more and more of them around, but looking through any of our manufacturers or distributors we cant find them. Any help would be appreciated.

The ones I use are made by Simmons. They are an angled fin that bolts to the interior on the ski and shoots a stream of snow on the front of the track. Not sure what type you've be seeing.

The ones I am talking about are just like the ones in your skid, and when not in use they lift up and hook on the ski out of the way. Ill try to find a picture.

I was always curious which works better? Ski or rail scratchers? Does anyone use both? I only use Rail but I would like to try the ski for kicks.

Two different applications really. Rail scratchers provide mostly cooling to the tunnel heat exchangers with some lubrication to the rear of the skid where it is least needed. Ski scratchers broadcast onto the front of the skid covering the area where the front sweep of the rails flattens out. This transition point is usually where you see the most wear on the hyfax from lack of lube. I have run both for many years, even invented a set that mount to the rear of the skis.

I like these

Give me a shout sometime Shane and Ill fill ya in on my ideas. EW

Dobber and EW, thank you very much! Eric ill get at ya this week and chat! That was exactly what I was lookin for fellas!

there was a thread with a guy who made them out of the spring tines for a swather or combine
you can get those at a farm and feed dealer for cheap and one spring will make two scratchers

Exactly what I've been thinking about for years. Just never spent the time to put it together. It'd be nice to see what they did.

A couple of us tried teeth from a old harrow, they ended up breaking right away. Lets see what you come up with and ill copy that ha ha.

I made these out of broken Holtz Scratchers for my Dragon and now they are on my Pro. Once in a while they will hit stuff and it will bend the mounting plate but they work well.

To mount them to ur ski. All u need is a longer bolt through ur ski and put a regular scratcher on it. Unless u have long scratchers.
I wish I would have taken pics before I sold my sled.

I've posted these before. They do work well and once built they are cheap to replace. I think I have about $9 into a pair and a spring is about $1.75 on sale. Towed a trailer up into a cabin a couple years ago on a hard road and they cooled the 700 down real quick once I remembered to put them down.

I had to do something different since my 144 Edge skid didn't allow for the standard spring scratcher without removing bogey wheels or other parts.

Those look great Volcano, I was originally looking for a customer but may end up putting a set on my sled now that i see knowbody really produces them anymore. SLP doesnt.... What did you use for the bushing??

Do ski scratchers interfere at all with sidehilling or get damaged sidehilling often?

From what I have seen they can have a tendency to bend a bit more or disfigure the ski because the ski is more pliable than the stiff rail mounting, but they work better, IMHO, because they lubricate the entire skid. Most people when sidehilling would have already pulled them up into the "away" position when they decide to get off trail. Mostly just interested in them for icy mornings to and from the good stuff.

U mount them on the inside of the ski.
Just take out ur ski/spindle bolt and go buy one a couple inches longer and use the hub/bushing from a standard set of rail mounted scratchers. U might have to drill out the hub to put on ur new ski/spindle bolt.
