Ski option?

Not shure what stacks snow? You mean lifts the ski,, is that bad? Or does it not turn in those situations?

Sorry, I formulated me bad.

Between the Promoto "center keel" and the ski, snow packs up and creates a drag that one dont want. If it would have been a solid keel, it would have been a lot better.
It also skids more than without the Promoto when your out sidehilling etc.

Don't get me wrong. It helps a lot on the trail, but makes off trail work less good (than stock). So for me the solution is to go with the Timbersled Ski. They have tried the promoto stuff too, and would not be satisfied with a solution that isnt a lot better.

Got it! Im just concerned that the trail ride into the good stuff will be a night mare and wear me out just getting there?

Oh man, my first ride was up the 1 mile icy road to get to the trailhead and then another mile or two of hard icy trail. I had the death grip on the bars and was wondering if getting into snowbiking was a bad idea. I mean it really sucked. Had to rest a couple time in three miles, forearms burning. Standup if your in the whoops and ride loose, real loose.
Finally i turned off into only like 4" of untracked snow over hardpack and it was like i had power steering. It handled awsome and was stoked about my purchase. That was on a 2moto with the stock narrow simmons ski. Even in deeper snow with a crust you really gotta be careful. I even had my bike ghost ride on me. Fortunatley i was able to run and tackle the bike before it went over the 1000' cliff:face-icon-small-blu
I am confident that the new TS ski will be a great improvement of stock.

Enough to ride it on a 1000' of Clif bars?:face-icon-small-hap

I feel pity and jealousy for you new comers to the one ski sport, when you realize the machines make maneuvers Twoskis make best without a rider or just can't seem to shake that new feeling of glee.

You gonna be fine new ski or not MH's are easier than wheels, you just happen to be one of the early riders they will talk about the "hardships", yeah right, "you old timers had to endure!"

Oh ya, tell your friends and rel's they better hurry up and get in on this single row seated bus, their COUCH's value is connected to doll hairs. ;)

I found the best way to deal with roads, icy or not, is just to go really fast. I passed sleds on ice roads last year without any problems. You learn to lean that original stock Simmons ski over to one carbide and just haul arse with a foot close to the ground for catching you when the back track starts to spin.

And while it's hard to explain here on the forums, just let the bike go where it wants to go (within reason). The more you force input on the bars on the trail, the worse ride you are going to have.

The enemy of snowbikes are the jerks who run their trucks up the roads early season and leave a perfect ski-width rut in the road. Once your ski enters that rut it's a pain in the *** to get out without throwing the bike to the ground. Stay clear of the truck ruts!

so mabe some Ice racing screws in the track to keep it from sliding on hard pack??

It's not enough of an issue to warrant the screws, methinks. Unless you dedicate a large portion of your riding to the trail. I couldn't imagine having to ride on the trail all day on a Horse... knowing what this thing does off trail would be pure torture.

ski;s

I agree to not mess with things so your trail perfomance impoives. Last year I spent too much time/money messing with ski's to improve my ride to and from the pow. gen 1 and ii ski, yanaha owder ski, doo ski, trimming ski's, pro moto kit. Bottom line do what you can to get to the hills/pow and enjoy. I am loving the flotation of the gen ii and this will be my ski this year. A few locals have bought the new kit, I will wait and see how the new ski works. If a s advertised I may scoop one. Otherwisde, I will role with what I have. I di not buy the mt horse for trails. I also agree when on a trail do not wrestle the bike go with it and do small s turns or side to side, it is impossible to hold straight on a packed trail. Lean to a side and roll with trail conditions, buys behind you might think you a off your rocker going side to side b ut arm fatigue no moreif you relax and flow with it.

I wish this question was about kit options, there needs to be many to choose from NOW!! Ski's are only a minor part of this sport.:face-icon-small-fro

Curve XS

Curve XS is still the best production ski out there. We have ridden the Simmons and a few others. It comes purely back to geometry and being between the forks not outside of them which gives you a crazy ride. When your outside of then you have to ride robe died or the other of the Simmons..... Hmm that means you are riding a single keel that way. That's what the Curve gives you plus an even wider ski than the y inch Simmons. Easy choice. Who has actually ridden it the Curve XS that is?

The curve design will not allow for powder carving. Bought a set and they came off after 4 hrs, That shape will toss you off on a bottom turn, Its a trail ski only

Bought a set?

So was that for your sled not for the snow bike right? I and a few others have ran them last winter and never experienced what you are describing. how will it do that? If it's "tossing you off" then that means it is biting and allowing you to carve right?
