ski opinions

I have a 04 summit 144 with the stock side hiller skis. I have been looking to update the skis to the pilot 6.9s, but they seem hard to come by. I was also looking into powder pros. I mostly ride the UP of michigan- backwoods/boondocking. I hope to go west to the steep n deep some day! Which skis would you guys suggest for overall all around powder riding.

Mods are my favorites however they arnt a good choice if there are exposed rocks and easily damage the side wings, In the deep they out perform all others,

Over the years I have run quite a few different skis, here my .02's worth. C&A while a fine and durable ski are just to stiff and give way to much trail feedback through the bars, the XT Extremes do float well but suffer the above problem along with the razors and adx's. Stock Doo Pilot 6.9's are OK but nothing to write home about, just a decent ski for the money if found used and at a right price. USI just dont do a thing for me and I've tried the different fins & adjustments. SLP Powder Pro's so far have been the best ALL AROUND trail/powder ski I've run, you do have to setup for them and once done they'll carve up the powder and turn your sled like its on rails in the packed stuff. This year I'm trying out a set of SlyDogs Powder Hounds with 8" carbides, so far they seem almost as good as the Powder Pro's but I haven't gotten my suspension dialed in for them correctly yet. So as it stands right now SLP Powder Pro's are tops with SlyDogs Powder Hounds a close 2nd in my opinion as of now, who knows once I get the Dogs dialed in but I still wouldn't hesitate to buy SLP Powder Pros no matter the conclusion of my testing with the Dogs

How are the pp's as far as steering feedback on the trails? I have had C&A's, and SLP tri keels on my trail sleds in thr past, they both carved awsome-but the steering effort/feedback was pretty harsh.

X2 but rocks are not a problem. i've put miles on rocks every summer and skis are fine. (carbides are f#%t though) when the ski does damage you can just replace the plastic for cheap, not a new set of $500 skis.:)

The SLP Powder Pro's trail feedback is strong enough that you get a feel of the trail but not so strong that it makes your hands, arms and shoulders numb & tired. They're real trail friendly and cut corners on rails plus float like a boat, you can notice your sleds front end coming up on a plane when you hit the flipper in the powder. -- I'm a firm believer in writing about gear/accessories I have firsthand experience with, so keep your eyes out for a post on the Powder Hounds in a few weeks - got to have a chance to really thrash them off AND on trail.

If you have a trail sled I would recommend our Trail X (TRX) skis. This ski has rounded keels on the outer edge for more control in turns and less darting. We also dovetail them in the back so there is more sled to snow contact.

Also, we now have the Xtreme Crossover (XTX) ski which is similar to the XT, but the keel is 1/2" shorter for an easy transition from mountain riding into trail riding.

I've got 2 rides on my powder pros now, so far I'm pretty happy the only conditions I was having to struggle with was kinda "crunchy frozen" layer ontop of powder, the skis would break threw and then I had a real hard time getting them out of there own ruts they just wanted to go straight.
