Ski Doo track - actual width

I measured the track width on my 2023 Expert with the 3 inch lug in the 154 length.

It’s 15.75” wide, not 16”. First time I’ve ever measured a Doo’s track width.

I wonder if all Doo 16” tracks are really 15.75” and if Poo’s 15” tracks are really 15” or something less.

Even if the Poo’s are actually 15” that means there is even less difference between the Doo “16” and the Poo 15 as far as width.

I will have to measure the Poo tracks on my buddy’s Pro’s.

Been like that for awhile. I had a doo track cut down to 15.25” and fully clipped it. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to install it on my 2021. Sold the track and the sled. The new doo track chews.

I'd never measured a track on any sled until recently, so I was surprised.
You can Run the track looser, it lowers the friction and makes the track rotate easier.

Would running bigger idler wheels in the back doo the trick too instead?

No I don’t think so. That won’t help the track tension and ratcheting. It’s a noticeable difference between a sled with the fully clipped track and aftermarket drivers, compared to a stock sled.

I feel like we should be finding other activities but I measured 2 23 none flex edge tracks @ 15 5/8 and 1 22 flex edge @ 15 7/8. Now I’m wondering if a new track would be 16” and these numbers are due to wear. Also the lugs don’t get shorter nearly as much as I imagined still about 3 with 1500 miles. I’ll let y’all know the new track width in hopefully September. ?

I measured my brand new 154/3 Doo track at 15.75 wide, so it's not wear and tear reducing it from the stated 16 inches wide spec.

Belt width or lug width. For years Doo had 16" tracks where the lugs were less than 15".

The G4 summit has not had a exact 16”w, the value was always rounded up. My G4 track I cut the excess belt to the width of the lugs because that track had a 15 1/4”, I think it was lug width don’t hold me to that measurement, that was a couple of years ago.
As far as traction, G5 summit track is much better over the G4.

How is the G5 track different than the G4 other than many are non-flex edge?

Belt width is 15.75.

The new Doo Summit 3" lug tracks have lugs that extend out to the edge of the track unlock prior versions.
