i have a 600 ho summit with some mods what would it do if i changed the "stock gearing 22 43 to 21 43 it feels like the motor has more and hits 8100 and i go in the deep and it hits 7400 then slowly goes back up two 8100 all new clutching team sec. with helix and spring for 0 3000 feet. on flat it will hold 8100 all day till i shut her down. Any one have an idea???? and will changing the gearing help thanks mike:confused::confused::confused:

My 07 600 144" uses a 19/45. Doo recommends a 19/43 for sea level to 4000' however as set up she'll get it done big time with no RPM drop or belt heating issues, a bit hard on gas though..good luck:beer;

so try the 19 43 and it will geter done?? sounds right the clutch was set up by team cc so ill try the gearing first thanks

Yeah, that will get you where you want to be... if you have trouble finding parts let me know. I have an extra 19/45 set laying around I'll let you have pretty cheap.......wwracer

It's not your gearing

Is it a Team secondary? As Ultra suggested you might have too light of a secondary spring but it is probably your helix. IMHO, Teams helix recommendations are not that great for Ski Doo.

The fact that your sled runs well and holds RPM on hardpack but has poor back shift and will not hold RPM in the powder is an indication of a steep helix angle. Post your secondary helix angle and spring color so that we can make a recommendation.

Yes it is a team. I talked with him on the phone and said he is running a 48/44 with a black/purple. I am a Poo guy so this is apples and oranges to me, but I am thinking that the 44 degree finish angle is way to steep for a 600 in the deep. I know my poo's won't pull that much helix. I am running the black/purple in multiple sleds and like that spring in the mtns. Any comments?

Yes the 48-44 is way steep for the 600. Unfortunately, Team does not make a decent step helix for that application so they spec a poor helix in their kit.

The only helix that Team offers that works well on the Summit 600 for powder and boondocking is a 38 straight. So IMHO, the 38 angle with a Team red black spring is the ticket. BTW, the second angle is a 40 on the twin track helix so you would order the 38-40 S Team helix.

Hope this helps.

Probably not going to make a huge difference with the back shifting problem that you have now, but gearing down a sled for Mtn riding is always a good idea. If you have the lower gear go ahead and install it.

Give AMDS a call, they might have a straight 38 in stock depending on what model clutch you have.

19-45 is good. The helix change is easy, four screws and it twists out.

In theory. It may take a little nudge from a hammer btween the taking out the 4 screws, and twisting it out. Sweet thing about the teams is that there is NO spring pressure against the helix so it really is a piece of cake to change out. Too bad you aren't closer to me Mike, I have a brand new 58/40- 58/38 sitting here that I would let you try. The inital would be off, but that would tell the tale on the other end before you bought one. If you already have the gears in there, It has to be that helix. I hope someone has one in stock for you for tommorrow! :beer;

ditto: straight 36 or 38 helix and a softer spring would be the best way to go IMO. I dont think changing the gearing will affect the rpm much, but it should help your track speed a little in the deep powder. I have 19/45 on my 07 800R and was thinking about going down to 19/47, which you might want to do too. The lower the better for the powder, especially since you have a 600 and not a 800.

Good luck
Evan

m11762: Im pretty sure I saw you yesterday at Turny...for what its worth mine wasnt pulling rpm yesterday either. I think the combination of weather (30 degrees) and really wet snow probably has a lil to do with it. I did a new top end on mine over the summer, tss04 54/42, its an 800 though. Im gonna wait a couple more rides
