Ski Bushings

I need a little help on ski set-up for my wife’s 2008 Summit 600…… I thought I should check out the wife’s carbides to see if they were due for replacement yet, she only has a couple thousand miles on it.

So I just got the floor jack out and raised up the front of the sled up to see how they looked and was just shocked when I grabbed the ski and saw how loose the ski was attached to the ski leg.

It was kinda of like a kid’s loose tooth just before you pull it out, so after I checked it out on the internet I found that either the Ex-Kent Ski-Doo dealer or the factory forgot to install the ski’s (Coussinet Bushings) not sure which one would do it, I know the dealer installs the ski’s !

I did purchase the sled new so I know the ski’s have never been off of the sled since I bought it. So only the ski bolt and the (Douille Bushing) were installed and that’s why it was so wobbly.

My question is are the 2 Coussinet Bushings pressed in, I check out my 2010 Summit and they were in very tight so that I could not get them out without a hammer.

Thanks Kerry

The bushings were there...they just wore out from no maintainance. They SHOULD be taken apart and greased at least once a season and they will last much longer....if not maintained it can wear into the spindle and ruin that too. It's about $40 for the 4 bushings and 2 axles....might need the bolts too and hopefully it didn't take out the spindles.

I have never seen grease in any ski or rear suspension bushing. I drop them out and grease everything, no more rust and wear.

Thanks Winter Brew I have never heard of that before, I would think that if it need grease they would have put a zerk fitting there.

So I need to get that taken care of on my 2010 so should I take a screw driver and hammer to pop them out because they were very tight or what do you recommend.

Once you get the ski off you will see what's left (if anything) of the old bushings....hammer and punch to get them out. Once they wear, they crack and fall out in little pieces.
Some guys will drill and tap the spindle for a grease zerk.

You can buy I believed there called oillite bushing from bearing house or
Some of the better Hardware stores for about $8
Then drill and and tap a hole in the middle of the spindle
And install grease fitting
Grease every couple rides
Should outlast the rest of your sled
I'll post some pictures Friday
Of mine
Ps
if the holes have elongated in the spindles you can oversize the hole
Or use some j b weld when you install the bushing to fill any tapered wear spots at the sides of the spindle
