In this day & age, with our current technology, why don't we utilize popular vote?
Can anyone give me a valid reason for NOT using popular vote?

(granted, the current system kept that AL Gore clown out of the White House)
OK that's a good reason:D

Why do we use popular vote? The answer is very simple...it's because candidates would only care about the most populated areas of the country.

Winning the vote in Los Angeles would be more important than winning the entire states of WY, MT, ID, ND, SD, UT, NE, KS combined. As the system is right now a candidate can win California but still lose the election if he doesn't win in other areas.

Hope that makes sense.

Your example insinuates sweeping California.
When in reality most States fall in a 60-40 spread.

Popular vote would give every voter an equal vote.
One vote would equal one vote.

Would eliminate alot of "ignoring" smaller inconsequencial states.

I see your point, but I want to argue all angles.
