what do you guys think of these over the gen 1? advantage flotation, but are there some drawbacks in sidehilling, handling. i love my gen 1s, just wondering about moving up.

:beer;I love mine! I had them on my '07 162 XRS, '08 163 XPX and now my '09 163 XPX. I don't see any disadvantages to them other than they are a little harder to steer at slow speeds or when stopped.

Love mine.. Havent REALLY tested them on the m1000 yet.. but think they will work amazing like always.. :D

Dont think I will go back to a genI ever

Great Skis, are pretty much double the weight but cannot beat the flotation for those DEEP days. Can lighten front end ski pressure for a lighter steering sled with the Gen II's. They look goofy, that is what I love about them.

I have a set of Gen-II for my 2009 M8.
I am looking to get rid of them to go back to my Gen-I's. I like the way the narrower skis steer at slower speeds, but that is about it.
If anyone is interested, let me know. I have them here in Anchorage, AK.

Thanks.

Overall I like them. I complain every year about the extra width they give me with the wings on the outside. It adds 2-3 inches in width. I have been threatening to trim the outside wing off but have yet to do it.
Other than that, they work great on an over weight pig like mine.(Apex)
However, we are putting Gen 1's on the Nytro.......

Had em on my 08 M1000, nice in deep power, pigs to turn at slow speed. minimal darting on trail. Changing them out to slp power pros mainly because once pointed down hill they just like to keep going straight down hill. Where as with a stock ski I can more easily pull it around and go back up the hill. Going to try the slp with the carls mod.

I bought a set for my 1000 summit last year and it was a great investment. I got a lot of crap about how goofy they looked until we started getting off the trail and everyone was nose diving there sleds coming off the hills and i would stay afloat with a sled that weighed 100 pounds more. My grandpa and uncle both put them on there Apexes this last summer and are looking to get to try them out as well.

I think they are great for the big 4 strokes, not necessary for the rest. As mentioned, nothing compares for slow speed flotation in the deep irregardless in weight of sled. The difference in the weight of the sled is that the big 4 strokes make leaning the sled over easier with the wider skis than the lighter sleds. I rode an RX-1 Turbo with them and was really impressed, but not enough to get them for my M1000. Really depends what sled your looking to put them on? I think that is the decision factor really.

I would get them for the 4 strokes and maybe a stock M1000 if I didn't lighten the front end up as much as I have (full exhaust and intake, gutted hood). For the rest of the sleds, I say Gen I's are plenty ski.

I think it's pretty bad we lose weight everywhere and gain it when we buy aftermarket skis. The Simmons are really heavy, and they should look into a way of making them lighter!
