Signs at Gold creek turn-around

Does anyone know where a guy can purchase signs that say " No parking in turn-around" and " No parking East of this sign" ? I wanna put some up at the Gold Creek sno park.

Went for a test and tune in the rain at Gold Creek on Sat. Their was a van ( skinny skiing kids from some organization out of Tacoma) parked in the turnaround. It wasn't impossible to get around it, but still.

Then, while getting dressed for the ride, a Subaru with 2 skinny skiing adults parked there, too. I told them nicely that it is a no parking area and they may get ticketed. They said they didn't know they were parked in the turn around, thanked us for the "heads-up", then moved their car.
I honestly don't think they were parking their to be jerks, I think they were just dumb. ( no offense meant) I think there needs to be better signage for the area to keep the dumb ones from screwin things up. If it doesn't cost much, I'd pay for the signs and post them. I just don't know where to get the signs without doing some research. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I think National Barricade in seattle sells those type of signs. Other than that try a safety supply store, they have them too.

We rode there fri and there was two snowmobile trailers parked right under the no parking sign.......:(

Considering this is the only sign this year........

In the past, a state sign was posted on the right just at the start of the turnaround. This year it doesn't appear to be there....

Even sledders have parked there this year....I've already posted some of those pictures but this time I won't torture the guy anymore.... See, I show mercy once in a while.

For years people have been parking there--either they can not read or do not look for any signs--or do not care because they are "SPECIAL" and that does not mean them!!

You would be better off having signs made from the plastic type cardboard so they are less expensive because to put them where they can be seen and maybe obeyed, they will disappear as well or need to be reposted from time to time after the plows come through.

Go get them--as soon as you get the ones parking in the turn around trained--more dopes will be there to fill their shoes--or in this case--parking space:mad:

I can not think how many people I have told not to park there and they totally ignore you or laugh at ya.

Maybe we can get some rangers down there to ticket the guys in the turnaround, as well as the mother-lode of Subarus and Caravans parked up futher making the road unbareable for any rig with factory mirrors...

I want to see someone enforcing what we pay for...

People who have not towed a large trailer before just have no concept of the space it takes to turn around and manuever. I think it should be required when getting a drivers license that you have to do a ride along for a day in a semi truck/trailer, that will open the eyes of that 16 year old Bellevue chick.

Call the rangers--it will do good till the next day---we have done that--Like I said--the next hour--more idiots will be ready to fill their spot.

I just quit going to that snow park--there are others for the same access.

FlyZ28 As for the signs---just about any printing place can do the plastic coated type cardboard signs.

If you could mount the sign right above there belt below there shoulders they would be able to see that when they are putting there heads in and pulling them out.

Who's in charge of that area? do a little complainin, seems to work for the greenies......

Thanks for the tips, I'll check those places and see if I can come up with some that don't cost mucho $$. Cuz, like you guys said, they probably won't last long.

I gotta say, I'd be really pissed if the click clicks I talked to the other day would have told me to F.O. ( and I half expected they would). I agree with the idea that most of the people in cars just have no clue what it's like turning around with a trailer.

Plus..... What I left out of the original post was that I saw them move their car but we didn't realize (until after they were pretty much ready to ski) they parked their car about 5 feet in front of us and too close for the rig in front of us to load sleds. I was going to say something except I figured the guy in front could have pulled up enough to load sleds.
The skiers didn't seem like a**holes so I gotta believe there are a lot of them that just need to be educated. I don't know how a guy would go about educating them in a positive, successful manner, but it would be nice if something could be done to help.
Anyway, just thought I'd bring up the topic for discussion.

Some species have no hope of learning new tricks. What you are implying is that common sense needs to prevail and that's not going to happen.

As for the signs, if you find a place, I'll help with some of the cost....

a little peanut butter under the drivers door handle never hurts :D:D:D

or vasaline above the wiper blade hehehehe

possibly a bottle of water accross the top of the door jamb to freeze shut

but only to the subaru peeps and not the F-350s and Silverados etc.

I am a pranky little $hit.......

you dont have to buy signs, the forest service has them

Believe it or not, If I remember correctly from the logs, the sherrif and forest service write more tickets at gold creek than any other snopark in the state, And mostly to skiers with no snopark permit, All we have to do is let the forest service in cle elum no that there are no signs and we can get them for free. We have a groomer meeting coming up and I will mention it. I will call the cle elum office and see about getting signs up there, I myself give them a written warning on their windsheild (nicely I might add) stating what they did wrong, either parking in the turn around or parking so close to my trailer I cant get the back door down and load, I tell them this one is free, next time (and I always take their picture and write the plate down) you will come back to a car with four flat tires, removing the valve core does wonders. I've only had to do it once (at gold creek I might add)

Let me start off by saying that what I did @ 17 years (or so) was WAAAYY wrong and I would never consider doing it again....That said...

After a grueling, nasty, wet, bumpy ride at Gold Creek on my new sled (long tracked Phazer with studs and cleats) I came back to my trailer to find a click click's car (Subaru) parked so dam close to my trailer that it's Front bumper was actually OVER the back of my tilt trailer and another compact car was parked within 3 feet of the front of my truck.
It was an exceptionally bad ride that day with arguments and bad feelings within the group on the hill so I was in a particularly bad mood already when I saw the parking job this moron did.

It all became a kind of furious blur at that point and all I could see was red.

So I did what any other bad tempered punk would do.

I was able to get the skis on the Phazer up, onto the trailer from the side and with the help from a couple guys I was with that day I threw the rear end of the sled onto the hood of the Subaru, cleats, studs and all.

there wasn't any snow on the trailer so the carbides on the skis grabbed the plywood deck pretty good while I was spinning my track on the hood of the car but the sled eventually moved forward on the trailer.
The studs cut deep into the metal on the hood.
The trailer tried to tilt down but the bumper and license plate of the car didn't let it go completely flat but when I pulled the truck forward a little it finally did drop all the way but it mangled the plate and lower valance.

It took about 6 times moving forward and back trying to weasel my way out of the tight parking spot, further mutilating the front grill and headlights of the stick walker's car on every move.

I left a note under the wiper of the Subaru....

"You need a permit to park here and next time leave some room for trailers to load azzhole"

I feel bad about it now but that was a long time ago.
I am a lot more stable these days! (most of the time) :D

I'm not proud of it but it happened.

cool!

Thanks Jetjohnson........ Please let us know what the outcome is about getting the signs from the forest service. If it doesn't work out, I'll look into the places mentioned by the other replies and just buy them ( if they aren't too expensive:D)
