Shovel mounts?

do you have anything else back there? gas can? tool box?
I use straps or bungee cords to attatch the handle to the top of the box with the shovel part over my gas can.

If you ride in the mountains the safest place to keep your shovel is in your pack. If you and your riding buddies are caught in a slide and your bike or sled ends up buried you cant access it. Then your friend dies. I guess if you're a flatlander it doesn't matter.

Yeah we ride mountains but I've been needing the shovel enough that I don't want to keep it in my pack for accessibility. I hear what you're saying though. I'd consider two I guess. I do have a gas can but there's a good bit of rear real estate that is perfect for an assembled shovel.

Indeed

I carry two as well, and in a quick need situation the one back there is WAY easier and faster to get to. The one on my back requires complete removal of the avy vest to get to. So..........

Gas can cover/shovel holder????

Isn't the gas can cover guy making one that will hold a shovel also???

Anybody know,,,,,,,,, I'm far too important to do a search for that chit!!!

Jus sayin......

Yup. Two shovels.
The one strapped to my tunnel is quite a bit bigger and I can access it while I still have my avy pack on. I wish my avalanche pack (bca float 20) would hold a real shovel. The small one I can fit in there would be pretty worthless in set up avalanche debris. Nonetheless, can't take a chance of having my only shovel get buried. I really like the gas can cover idea, but my bungee cords are cheaper.

Yeah, not terrible, I guess

You might be thinking of the 1000 dollar snobike cover guy...:loco:

Ha. I was thinking of putting a tarp over it since it supposed to rain tonight. ?
Seriously though, wasn't there a guy in the Midwest that was making these also?

Why for you needs a shovel?

Get having a shovel in a backpack for avi, but never needed a shovel for anything on a snowbike.

If I was gonna carry anything it would be snowshoes, for the worst case busted bike walkout.

I ride with sleds lol. In all seriousness I've needed it many tines also.

I definitely don't need it like I did when I was riding a sled. But, if it's easy to access sometimes it's nice to grab it and make life easier.
Plus, I do still find myself with sled buddies!

I have hiked out of my riding area four times in the last 15 years (3 sled 1 bike) Doesn't seem worth it to carry snowshoes when there is always a track nearby that I can walk on. I have used my shovel many more times obviously. My area is unique in that I'm never more than three or 4 miles as the crow flies(or the sucker walks) from the truck.

I used a set of ski bindings to secure a shovel on the sled tunnel. Don't know if they'd work on a bike tunnel.
Oops! Meant snowboard bindings.
