Ok since I'm frustrated with my sled right now, I've turn my attention to the wifes sled. Sled is a 2011 600 rmk. We bought it brand new a couple months ago. Now that she has some miles on it we are thinking she wants more power. I've been thinking about putting a slp single and can on it with their clutching and intake. The question is, is it really worth the money? Seems like alot of money for the little hp gain.

A Dyno would say yes your motor is producing more horsepower by about 5-7 but people being told their sled is producing more power will easily believe it. More so with cans, they just add noise and really don’t make any more power.

That being sled, there is a BIG difference in engine horsepower and the horsepower being put out at the track. If I’m not mistaken KJAssualt (seems like a pretty smart guy imho) dynoed his 800 piped assault, fix and all that good stuff and got about ~162hp. But his track horsepower was only ~75ish. :face-icon-small-sho

The only real ways to greatly increase horsepower that you will feel make a big difference is...

1. Add a Turbo. Very expensive as I’m sure you already know

2. Bore out the motor. Bigger motor, more horsepower and torque. Also, expensive...

3. Do some clutch work. IMO this is the most important bang for the buck. The drive system is what will cover this loss of horsepower from the engine to the track. A better drive system means less horsepower lost. Aftermarket primary helix, springs create a noticeable difference, make sure your weights are clean, proper clutch alignment, and it’s balanced.

4. Get a proper map through a Power Commander to make sure your running the engine at its proper peak performance. I don’t know how bad it is on the 600s but the '08-'10 800s are kinda F'ed up by the EPA a tad. :face-icon-small-sad

5. Go through your skid after this winter and make sure it is all properly lubed up. Remove all the boggy wheels and clean the debris out of the bearings or replace if needed. This will help prevent a lot of resistance and make the track spin smother; creating more track hp. I do this every summer. Best of all this “mod” is basically free!:face-icon-small-hap

IMO try a couple hundred in clutch work and see how she likes it after that. I’ve heard great things about Carls Cycle but I don’t have it on my sled.

My son has the same sled and this is what I will do by next winter: 700 crank, pistons, cylinders, head, pipe and reflash to 700 specs, clutching as well. 600's are nice, but the 700 is alot stronger all around.
Sell the 600 take off stuff and recoup most of money spent...
