I currently have a 09 Crew cab duramax tuned with EFI live and 5" exhaust with dpf delete, my local dealer has a 2012 F250 that i really like but i never owned a ford before, I had a o6 cummins before my duramax. Just wanting to here some thoughts on guys who went from chev to ford and if it was a good decision or if they have any regrets, Just looking for some real world answers and not a bunch of sales man BS. Thanks alot. :face-icon-small-hap

well i didnt go from a chev to a ford but i did go from a 6.0 to a 6.4 to a 6.7 and ford finally got a motor right i have 74,000 on my 12 and no problem runs great runs better stock then my 6.4 chiped,we have 10 6.7 in our fleet and have not had any motor issues.I dont think you would be disapionted.

Obama motors... GM took money from the US government which it paid back the loan, and the government is now selling back their shares as well.

Ford took money from private investors. Private investors = Chinese governments money invested in the private market.

Ford is so much better?

Just curious if your set on a Ford or if you've thought about a newer Dodge.
The Megacab is pretty sick

I had a 06 dodge and just got tired of replacing ball joints, death wobble and the rough ride, just kinda wanting to see what a ford would be like and the dealer is just down the street. :face-icon-small-hap

Obamamotors alive and well

I won't get into who makes the better truck....but I do believe the last time I checked we already have procedures in place to help companies restructure debt called bankruptcy. Multiple companies have used it in the past...large and small....and at some point a company might have to trim the fat. I believe they would not have "closed the doors". Would have it cost us millions of jobs probably not. I do know however Chrysler has done a much better job of paying it back. I still don't believe they should have taken the money.

Ford actually went out with a plan...sold the plan to a group of investors...who invested private money....with risk and just so happened made a killing with the risk they took, because they had a plan that they believed in. Is it Chinese money..don't know for sure. But, last I checked it was private money they chose to invest to make or loose money.

I bought my last truck and felt that I should support a company that was trying to live up to what they set out to do...which is live by the consequences(good or bad) on the decisions that they had made in the past....and be stronger because of it. I believe the results of what they did where set into motion long before by management.

So in a nut shell......Yes Ford is much better

Like my argument or not...you won't change my mind just like I probably won't change yours. I was a Chevy guy....but I no longer will ever be a Chevy guy.....plus...it helped me know that Ford actually makes a better truck.

Was a Chevy guy myself. When comparing I felt the duramax / allison had a much better reputation vs. the unknown 6.7, i Just couldn't get past the additional space the Superduty had in the cab as well as the ride.

Took the risk with the F250 and have about 44k miles on my 6.7 now and have been very happy. Rides great, tows great and has all the creature comforts as well. I have to drive 11oo miles to get to real snow and the f250 makes the trip very tolerable.

I have not owned a Ford diesel, but the other Ford's I have owned were a maintenance nightmare. I switched to Chevy a few years back and have been satisfied.

I do think the Ford pickups are much nicer than Chevy on the interior though....that's where I spend most of my time, so I would consider one if the price was right....

I'm a Chevy guy and just bought F 350 yesterday. i like it a lot so far but not even near the power of a dmax but ok for stock. I love the room inside the ford and the truck looks tough too.

Dodge always has incentives .. Usually $8,000- 10,000... If I can save 10 k on a new truck I do it . Seems like ford and chevy. Don't offer those

Go test drive the truck and see if you like it. That's what it comes down to. There's always people that will say fords the best truck or Chevy, dodge. Whatever test drive it and if you like it buy it. They all seem reliable and to be great trucks now you really can't go wrong with any of em.

Just throwing it out there...the 2013 Ram HD's can now come equipped with 850ft/lbs TQ and a different 6 speed trans instead of the weak 68RFE.

They've also got different frame sections, different front end, upgraded diffs, tweaked interior, updated LED headlights and a bunch of other stuff. Very nice trucks and should take care of the weak Dodge front ends and poor lighting issues.

And still cheaper than a comparable Ford or Chevy. Sorry, had to put a plug in for Dodge.

X2. I just bought a 12 Laramie limited because of all the incentives. It's there highest options package and I paid about 8k off msrp with a 100000 mile zero deductible bumper to bumper warranty and lifetime oil changes. Very happy with the pickup and have been getting around 12 towing a trails west gooseneck the last two weeks. The fords are very nice and no doubt have more power. But is the engine going to last for 3 or 400k? No one knows. And the price tag is over 12k more in my area for a king ranch, which is only similar to a Laramie dodge.

I've always owned Ford trucks. I decided to try something different and I bought a 13 GMC Denali diesel. The Fords are super cool and I love the Ford turnaround story and I'm a big Alan Mulally fan. However, with all you GM haters I say get over it. Forgive them. Stuff happens in business. They goofed up and made huge mistakes. So you're going to have a resentment towards them for the rest of your life? Makes no sense to me. Have you ever personally made mistakes? Even possibly big ones? Buy the truck you like. Leave the past where its supposed to be. In the past. GM and Chrysler are part of American culture. I don't love how they made it through but I'm grateful their both still here.

I have owned all three chev, ram and now a ford 350. The ford is impressive when pulling heavy loads rides good and is very quiet driving. Just getting broke in and getting better time will tell.

Would you feel better if ford or GM marked their truck up $12,000 and then gave you $8k-$10k in incentives?

The problem with getting these incentives all the time is the value of the truck is pulled down. If dodge is selling a $60k truck with $10k in incentives that trucks value is instantly less than $50k
