Should I get this sled?

http://kalispell.craigslist.org/rvs/3643594138.html

I could be trading my 2005 crf450x for this sled. Should I do it or should I stay away. I am not an expert in snowmobiles so any help would be appreciated.

Try posting this in the 900 section under Polaris, they have a lot of info and a lot of knowledge about these 900s. From what I know, they take a lot of money to run right, but they are definitely a runner. A few things to consider, they have many problems, but so do a lot of other sleds. However the 900s from polaris are known for having problems and there's a reason they were only made for 2 years, and suspended just before production of the 2007 sleds. If you're the kinda guy that likes working on his toys, and the chance of having to spend as much as you spent on it into it, then it's worth it.

Regardless, look on the 900 section, do a search, ask around, and you'll find an answer.

Hold onto the bike. One, it's a 900. Unless it had all of the crank updates and stuff it'll just give you a headache.

For 3500 you can find a better sled.

480 dry is pretty heavy, IMO
and 170 hp seems low, considering that it's been bored to 935. You can get 170 out of a stock XP with the SLP exhaust and drop weight.
Also 120 psi on each cylinder seems low too. What elevation did he do the compression test? Is it a stock head? If it's a tighter head, compression should be closer to 140.

i've never heard of any factory selling prototype sleds, seems a little odd to me.
