Should I be freaked out to buy a 900?

After reading a lot of great info I'm nervous as hell to buy one. Been looking at an 06 with 1200 miles, but not sure now. Obviously it's the best sled for the buck, but it it really?

Its a great sled if ur mechanically inclined and only if ur willing to put in the wrench time that these sleds require!

What is the asking price? Like Chunky said, if you don't mind turning a wrench they are a good sled. Have to do some upgrades also unless that sled already has them. The power on the 900 is the biggest atribute to the sled. When in doubt throttle out!!!

Asking price is 4k and just had the top end redone. Also has SLP y, pipe and can. Mileage is 1200. I don't mind the wrench time, just can't afford to walk back to the truck if it blows.

Paid 3,500 for my 05 900,,, all the BS ive heard hasn't effected mine. I am adding te vents,, but im doing it for 20 bucks... Makin my own.

And im doing lots of stuff, but only cause i like too.

Mine has all the updates from the dealer,,, so my push stop is stock,, and i just painted my stock pipe and got a good look at the push stop,, it's in fine condition.

This sled is scarry fast,, I ride Michigan trail.

What i have noticed,, most poeple w/ this sled buy it for mountain riding. Go to Yuotube and type in fusion 900. It's mostly big prarie riders WOT, Wide open throttle,, then off,, then WOT for 30 seconds straght, then burp,, then WOT... That will kill any motor....
I ride trail,, very fast,,, but the 900 will only get WOT for maybe seconds, then mostly 1/4 throttle to 3/4 throttle, most time for me.

Then sure the occasional open powerline so i can smoke all my friends,, then back to 1/2, 3/4 throttle all day.

Now, remember this,,, everyone looks at HP and don't pay much attention to Torque. THe 900 has huge torque.

I am a X Moto-x guy, stopped due to injuries, but found this 900 to have the pull of my Cafe racer, just keeps pullin. Go 60 and hammer it to 100, you will grin. nothin pulls quite like it.

That sounds like a good deal to me. With low miles you know the chassis will be in good shape for a while to come and with the rebuilt motor it should be good to go there also. The biggest concern with these sleds seems to be in the setup... vent the cr@p out of it, get your clutching dialed in, check all wiring for proper routing around any pinch points, check the TPS setting, throttle body boots, gear it down to 19:42 for mountain riding and ride the hell out of it.

Check out the "Read before you buy" sticky at the top of the 900 forum and that will also give you a heads up on any other concerns that haven't been mentioned yet.

After owning my 900, I would not hesitate to recommend one to a potential buyer as long as you do your homework and set it up correctly.:beer;

And yes, the torque is addicting for sure:D:D

If you can talk them down to $3500 I'd jump on it. $4000 isn't a bad price either if some upgrades have been done IMO. Does it have of the upgrades on it? (Tourque arm, torque stop, balanced clutch) If you do the regular maintenances and that includes between rides, then its a great sled and shouldn't let you down. I've limped mine out twice with front end damage over 20 miles each time. (which I caused myself, damn trees) It hasn't let me down yet.

That's a good price for an 06. The 06's are twice the sled an 05 is.

I have an 05, my buddy has an 06

sleds are identical in almost every way aside from my F&I airbox and his SLP pipe and they run pretty dang close in most conditions we have encountered. (usually within 3mph track speed)

I think that's debatable:face-icon-small-win:D

I bought an 05 with quite a few mods (high comp heads, vents, fans, pipe, can, lefty throttle, ???? front end suspension, and all the recall/upgrades done by a dealer) for $3100 last feb and it had 1100 miles on it. Runs like no other!! Plus I weighed 220lbs last year and I'm down to 190lbs this year so far so I'm really looking forward to the snow!!!

Paid 3500 for a 06 switchback 900 from repo man in december ,needed side panel andbroken oil cable and all upgrades had been done......guy must not have been mechanically inclined cause it had a hi idle and low speed stumble.
I looked in the TB and a cattail reed had come thru the air screen and kept it partially open!
it had been awhile in there cause it was all gummed up probably from low grade fuel and maybe he wasnt burnin synthetic oil.
Anyway after some finetuning and cleaning adjusting and oh ya a broken primary spring she run strong and fast. Probably not the fastest off the line but onceshe catches midrange ....hold on!!!
Wouldnt have bought a900 but the price was right and now i love it!
:face-icon-small-coo oh it had 2000 miles on it...
